Greetings, my Dye i4 ear pads were falling apart and leaving sticky residue and annoying flaky paint all over my google and storage bag. I didn’t want to spend $150+ on a new set as I just replaced the lens. Replacement pads could’ve been ordered for $20 but I had a can of Flex Seal (the stuff from the infomercial) needed for wet winter maintenance around the house.
So after three coats, no more sticky residue or flaky paint. I was able to bend (didn’t go for the full 90 degree bend) within reason and observed the Flex Seal remaining intact.
Suggestions for next time:
Use a solid color, such as black. Clear just accents the color fade and deterioration.
Use a blade to remove any masking, as the Flex Seal easily lifts and tears.
Message Dye and let them know to use anti-UV additives, because this masked faded too fast for the money spent.
