WGP pumps are great, but i'm old enough that the $300 + price sours it for me.
When you can get a Empire Sniper for $200-$300 and maybe have to spend $50 on a ID hammer and seals, have an AT and probably a barrel kit, hard for ME to pass that value.
Depends on what you're wanting to do. I like that I can throw a stick fee on my Sniper or Hopper depending on crowd size that day.

This....
I recommend building a WGP-based cocker pump. Parts are widely available, they're simple to work on, and they translate well from semi to pump. Empire guns feel chintzy to me. Phantoms are great and simple to use, but they can have a steeper learning curve.

Here is everything you need to play any style pump paintball in one phantom package for a real good deal.
This + a Tippman 9ci and a small JoLo hopper would make a sick open class pump setup.

Snipers generally get 25-30 shots to a 12g on a good hot day if you shoot slow. Phantom will do 30-40+ on a good hot day shooting slow. 60*+ at 280FPS with consistent paint and a good bore match I get 42 shots easy on my setup. I run a longer barrel and pick my shots.

The gun doesn't really matter when it comes to being competitive. The barrel does, and if ROF is unlimited then the gun does matter...but in stock class, it's just about what YOU are comfortable with...that's all. The sniper platform is heavier and bulkier, but it does have a smoother pump stroke and fewer feeding issues than a Phantom - so it is easier to shoot at a higher ROF. Personally, I'd sell every other gun I have before my phantom. I value how compact and comfortable it is to shoot, and I'm only interested in one shot.

This is pending however something like this would be perfect and within your budget. (Probably more tward the top end) but you get my point.
GONE Green fade Orracle decked to the max. If it's not green, it's gloss black. Said I wouldn't get rid of this one, but here we are. 850, or trade for an Inceptionized Ripper Emek. CCM 45 frame with delrin grip panels. CCM pump kit with removable Hitman lever. CCM mini reg w/ rebuild spares. CCM fittings. CCM lower tube. CCM
Again sold for $350 but something like this would make a great pump.
Keep an eye on the BST.

Sniper platform (not Empire Sniper) is definitely the best for open class. Look into building your own or find one someone else built with good components. I really like CCM lower internals and their pump kits. The rest is cosmetic and lifestyle upgrades.

The first Gen Azodin left a lot to be desired. The newer KP3 is much much better. It’s smoother with a better reg and a barrel kit with usable barrel back sizes. They have come a long way from the first Gen. I never would have recommended the first Gen. But the 2nd Gen KP3 is hard to beat. Only downside is no auto trigger. That’s never been a make or break it with me the more pump you play the less you will lean on it. But for new pump players it dose help keep time. Is there a place around you you could try stuff out? Key is finding what works for you.
