For all of you not on FB, just reporting back from Living Legends --- got another one for us as MCBers.
Back from CPX Legendary Events Living Legends XVIII and have had a little bit to reflect on it. We picked up the win in what was truly a group effort by any measure and there are a lot of thank you's to go around. I know I am going to leave a lot of people out here and do not mean to, but this will be a novel as-is! As Simon has said to me before, the best thing about paintball is the people, and I feel like I have a great big ol' paintball family that came together this week. The belt is just a symbol of that.
First off, thanks to Brian Barno, Kristi Barno, Joe Perez, Dezi Johnson and the staff of Hell's Survivors for putting on a great event and thinking of me to take this on. Thanks to Junior Wong for leading the other side, along with B-Rad Paige, Marc Dreadnaut Bellomy, and his Legion Commanders for their efforts as well. It was my first Living Legends event and it's one I won't forget! I appreciate all of you.
Now, I get to keep the belt, but I am just the figurehead here---all of us played parts in this. Johnny Christian, my XO, thanks for this and all of the other events we've been partners in crime on over the last couple of years. Love you buddy! John Lee, you were massive in helping run comms and the command all weekend long. Couldn't have done it without you. John Vance it was great to have you and Otter Chaos just doing a lot of everything all weekend. You all were fantastic. Dylon Collison-russell and CRU---you all absolutely wrecked your areas of the field the whole weekend and I doubt we'll see something like that on the Grinder anytime soon. Kory Cosby you and your Tmp Mercenaries Paintball Team and 13th Legionnaires paintball team did an amazing job pushing all weekend as well! Very big thanks to all of you who helped this happen. When I was trying to work on our plans for the game, I kept hearing, "Don't worry, we got you." from Preacher, John, and Bravo and a few other people over and over. They more than lived up to that. You guys are awesome.
Brock Frieszell, Damian Fowler, Eddie Lott, Jesse Duncan, and Gatormaille---thank you guys for making me feel absolutely at home and letting me crash with you. Dave Sexton and the guys in the Blade tank, thank you for making the trip and supporting our side. Larry Ward --- it was great to meet you in-person after all these years --- thanks for everything! Ray Bobbitt I'm glad we got to hang out a bit and thanks for being a leader and big voice out on the field! I know it was a long trip with for some of you guys, and it meant a lot to have some long-time family there. Love you guys!
To the guys the I look up to as friends and in the industry that have supported and guided me along my little paintball journey--- Simon Stevens, Dezi Johnson, Archangel Mikel, Jim Rost, Anthony D'Ambrosio, thank you guys for everything over the years. I don't get to do Living Legends without you guys and I know that. Some of the shiny parts of the belt belong to you too and hope I made you proud!
And thank you to every single sponsor that went above and beyond to give cool gear to ALL of the prize winners---Inception Designs, Proflex Builder, Committed Paintball, Dyzana, and Gatormaille. These companies all go above and beyond to support players. Please, if you're considering new gear, look at them first. They aren't just big companies out to make a buck off us---they're players themselves that are trying to make cool gear that let's us have a great time on the field. Support them.
If I didn't get to mention you specifically, apologies but know that I genuinely appreciated everyone that came out and played regardless of the side and hope that you had a great time. Thank you all for a fantastic Living Legends! Oh, and congrats to the happy couple who got engaged in the middle of the final battle!
