    pricing a classic pneumag

So, I've got this pneumag that I don't know how to price. It started off as a parts gun. When you buy and sell as many mags as I have over the years, you collect some really beat up pieces that you almost feel bad about trying to sell to someone else. But you don't want to throw them away either, because they do work.

Then one day two years ago, I needed an extra gun to loan to a friend, so I slapped this thing together. The Boomstick barrel is in great shape, and the valve is fine, but the body has some scratches. The rail has a bunch of its own idiot marks, and I used it to practice milling out the inside to save some weight. The foregrip is homemade, painted (not anodized), and fatter than anything else I've ever seen. The Angel frame and the ASA were cerakoted by Voodoo, but they were originally red, and it shows in spots. The Angel frame was first a mech frame, then a SPAR frame, and finally a pneumag frame, so it has lost of extra holes in it from previous mods, and the back of the frame has a notch cut into it so the gauges on short tank regs don't bump into it. I also modded the ASA, redesigning the internals so it's almost as smooth as a CP ASA, and it bleeds.

As it stands now, it has a Minimag valve (not the RT valve in the picture) without a Level 10. And it works great. It's really comfortable to shoot. It's still one of my loaners, but it hasn't seen a lot of action since I bought my Emeks. So I'm thinking about letting it go.

But like I said.....how to even price it. Mag prices have been insane recently. Five years ago, I probably would have only asked $200 for it. Beat up classic mags used to sell for $100 or sometimes a little less, and the pneumatic stuff adds another $100 in value perhaps. But now? Where do I start? $300?

Anyway.....I'm not sure why I'm even making a post about this. I suppose I could start at $400 and just drop the price every few days until someone bites. But I'm bored, and this is annoying me. I don't want to price the thing so low that someone buys it just to flip it for $100. But I also feel guilty asking too much for it. I doubt I spent $100 on the parts all together. So yeah....I don't know. Maybe I just need some emotional support.

Let me make you something. I build pneumags, auto-response frames, and wooden pill cases.

I dunno, beat up or not it looks like a sweet gun.

I personally think 400 is a bit steep myself but im a cheap ass when it comes to markers. Id say itll sell at 325 to 350 shipped.

But that being said, if I were watching the price fall hoping to buy it, Id hold off on making offers til you were in the 250s for asking price. I wouldnt try to flip it at that, just use it as a loaner like you do. But thats just me.

Its hard as more and more modern shooters are being sold used, the 400 dollar market is SAUTRATED, and a MAG doesnt hold its own when compared to a lot of the modern mechs out there. So your buyer has gotta be a mag lover who wants a pneumag specifically or wants one of your parts for another build.

Now, can I aak why ya went away from the SPAR? Those seem like a fun mod to have.

I installed the SPAR first, but the safety is too high on this frame, so the selector switch would hit the bottom of the rail. Didn't realize it until I finally put it together. And this was the only spare rail that I had. So, it was either buy a different rail or switch to a pneumag, which can use a basic push safety.

And yeah, that's a great point about the $400 market being saturated. I don't think this is worth that much, even to a mag lover. Some days I wonder why anyone would choose to buy something like this over an electro that's faster, more efficient, lighter....and maybe even cheaper.

Might be just me but at $300 I would buy it in a heartbeat
I am seriously currently trying to see what I can sell quick just to make an offer right now

But I would start at 350-400 and see from there too

Its a really cool sleeper pneumag and those angel frame are nice too

I don't think you'd have any trouble getting 350-400. Especially since we all know you know your way around a mag.

The way prices are i'd say
        55$ for the valve
        120$ for the rail
250$ for the grip and pneumag setup

400 for the whole thing would be a reasonable asking price.

$100 in parts (used, experimented on. etc.)
          $25 shipping and handling
$175 Assembly, tuning, parts acquisition effort, profit, and your reputation.

          $300 total

At this price you aren't letting it go for free (or less), yet someone would not be getting it so low that they would be making much if they decided to flip it.

Just my thoughts, your mileage may vary.....

For many of us, the answer is really simple. They are fun to shoot.....

A Mag was the 3rd gun I ever bought, and I've had one (mech, emag, or pneu) ever since.

When my son inherits my gear, he will get a Mag, Blazer, Cocker, Phantom, and a Proto SLG-UL
