    Old vs New O-Rings

    I don't know that I've ever seen o-rings just shatter before, but I suppose that's what ~25 years of sitting will do. (most of the rest were discolored and less pliable than the replacements, but seemed fine.)

    That's one Mag back into operation :-)

    I have seen this happen on more than a few mags. The funny thing is on a lot of them they were still holding air and didn't fail until taken apart.

      I have been seeing this more and more lately, I suppose it is a sign that my 30 year markers should get some maintenance. Like dano said, I have found that they usually don't fail until I look at them, so some markers Like my goto Sniper II are under a "do not dissemble" order.

        Samesies. Lately I've stopped just replacing as-needed and am instead doing full-marker rebuilds. Next 30 years here I come!

      Better for them to turn brittle and shatter than to turn gooey. Much easier to remove and replace.

        I have often wondered if the gooey problem is a result of the lubricant used on certain materials. Not sure what to use on what, but that's my 2 cents

          I usually just replace the entire reg piston if I get a RT Classic that obviously hasn’t had a oring change in twenty years or more. I’ve had the pin’s spring pack fall apart in my hand just pulling them out of the valve.
