My classic valve there comes a point of increasing velocity that the dump pressure PSI spikes. Found this out when tuning my lvl 10 bolt, 1/8 inch turn in and the bolt (and felt recoil) becomes substantial. Even verified by pushing a swab against the bolt, its night and day. Makes me believe its the spring pack going bad. Any ideas whats up?

Jake, don’t you make a back cap that can run an external foregrip regulator?
Just an alternate option until a spring pack is found.
Edit: Or are you not selling them yet? https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/p...-valve-reg-cap

That is exactly why i started making the back caps. I haven't sold any because i was hoping to pick up a cnc lathe to be able to make them better and faster and more automated. It is on the list to continue making, just hoping to pick up a machine to do it. I have been hunting for the right one for months but need to do some things on my end to make it happen.

I was thinking of getting a vert ASA with a forward port, mount the port backwards, extend the grip out, then add a double 90 (90 right 90 up pitched 45 degrees, then add hardline). Would be ugly, but without an inline air passage, its the best way without using potentially harder to source regulator parts.
Alternatively, use a Ninja Flex reg on a tank, but there is very little information out about those....

hmmm, time to pull apart a spring pack and make some measurements? It really should not be too hard to rebuild if AGD used off the shelf spring wafers (Bellville Washer). I have a new force gage that has been needing some use this is as good enough subject to put it to some use. Might have to see about sourcing an unused spring pack.

Oh, for curiosity purposes I think I will still do some exploring. As I said before I really want to make something rebuildable so maybe I will stick more to that thread vs. just providing a new alternative. Has anyone tried using the coil spring from an X-valve in a classic valve? What were the problems? I've. actually never even compared them (never pulled the back of a X-Valve apart).

I was also messing around with this a little bit, but it got put on the back burner since I am currently moving. Nonetheless, I had purchased some stock compression springs from Lee Spring to try out. Here is what I learned.
A 1” inch spring is too long and makes it incredibly difficult to start threading the velocity adjuster back on. So I limited my search to springs that were about 3/4” long which is basically the length of a spring pack. I dropped a 1/2” fender washer on top of the piston to try and keep everything square.
The springs I bought all had a listed outside diameter of no more than .375”. There is a little wiggle room to allow for a very slightly bigger spring. Also, that comes out to about 9.5mm so finding a metric spring of about 10mm OD and about 20mm in length should work as well. You just have to convert the lbs/inch to N/mm.
Anyways, not knowing what the rate of the spring pack is, I just bought a selection of different springs ranging from just under 100 lbs/in up to 372 lbs/in. Almost none of them worked unless you bottomed them out basically making them useless. But, the spring rated at 372, I was able to get to work and still have a little bit of adjustment available. I was able to shoot and get velocities ranging from the 240s all the way up to 315 and still have just a small amount of adjustment left.
So I guess I spent a decent amount of money on a bunch of springs I can’t use, but at least learned that a spring of about 400 lbs/inch, might be a suitable replacement. I did find another spring on another sight that has a listed rate of over 530. I was considering picking one up.
The testing I was able to do was very limited. I am currently living in a hotel for the next six weeks so my ability to have access to my normal tools and equipment is limited as well as having a normal space to just shoot a few hundred rounds. I literally shot just a few rounds into a box in my hotel room to try this out, because I really wanted to know if it would work. I would be curious to know if one of these springs would hold up to thousands of shots.
Here are some pics of the spring I found if anyone else wanted to try it out. Also, the last pic is the spring I haven’t tried yet, but should fit. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I was using a lvl10 bolt.

Awesome work man. Now that we know what we are looking for maybe we can see if we can find something similar from a different manufacturer with smaller purchase number. I would 100% be down for buying and selling these on my website if we can nail down the size.
Also Level 10 requires more pressure than a level 7 so that is good to know as well.

The options are definitely limited. I’m glad you ordered some for testing. I would have eventually gotten around to it, but probably not for another couple months.

reporting back, I ordered the PC072-360-5000-MW-0800-CG-N-IN from thespringstore.com I was having issues getting it to shoot. I pretty much had to bury the adjuster to get it to shoot and even then it wasn't playing nice. I didn't even bother with paint. I am using a level 10 with rt on/off in the mag i tested.
so it looks like we need a heavier spring.BeardedWorks.com (Your Inception Designs and Shocktech Dealer)
