    Got my N5 Destroyer!

It's been a couple of weeks since Michigan Monster Game, but I wanted to show off the N5.

A couple of things to note:
The pump stroke is ultra short!
Since it's a Nova, the trigger pull is also ultra short.
For those that don't know, this is a hybrid pump/semi that is actuated by the grey safety looking button on the upper tray of the body.
It's mostly tool-less, meaning that there are 2 pins that hold the body from the tray. (metal and have detents so you can't lose them unless you take the detents out)
The back cap is threaded so if you have some heinous breaks, you can degas and unscrew it to run a swab out pretty fast.
    Cocker threaded.
    Has rubber finger ball detents.
It's still an open bolt spooly so you don't have to worry about rollouts and bore matching, mostly. (this is on both modes)
Since it's Cocker threaded, you don't need to run the Reaper barrel with it... But why wouldn't you?
Milling and anno is really nice and very much closely matches what you've seen in photos.
With that, not a lot of weird gaps and such for the main pieces: Body, Tray (that's what I'm calling it), and Frame.
Inherent with the design, it's easy to flip modes and can cause some low grade confusion if you are expecting it to pump and doesn't or you didn't pump it (cocking the marker to shoot semi) and it just puffs.

All in all, I'm really happy with this early release model, even with the slight quirks. With the fact that it's essentially a pneumatic assist pump and can switch to semi on the fly, I'm sure that I won't be able to use this for a tournament, anytime soon. I'm waiting on some new parts and to level out some velocity issues and get a full breakdown on how to, well, breakdown the marker completely.

If you gotta have something bleeding edge and want a definite conversation starter at the field, go snag one off the site. It's live now.

Oh, and I might be designing some parts for it already

I don't see why you couldn't use it in a pump tournament? The toggle switch to go to semi is removable, keeping the gun in pump only mode.

Hmmm, it is removeable... I just don't know which mode it will be stuck in when you pull it. It's in my car now so I'll have to check on it later. Don't most tournaments not allow pneu assist though?

how fast is it in semi? about the same as the n4 or faster?

It's definitely faster than the N4, even with the trigger upgrade. I'd say I've gotten it ripping faster than the N1 with Terr-Air, but not as fast as the N2. Now I gotta go do some science. LOL

    Does it autotrigger?

It would depend on your local group’s attitude. This isn’t really a pump. It’s a semi with two triggers. If it had 0.68" of pump stroke it would be another story.

It falls under the same category as a pneumatic assist cocker ... teh pump stroke only activate the 5 ways switch

They are rarely mentioned at all. I don’t know if anyone ever made a mass produced one other than this Nova and the Phantom Revolution and that’s not a gun I’d take to a tournament.

Curious, as I don’t play tournaments, what benefit would this pump provide in a pump tournie? Shorter pump stroke and autotrigger making you able to shoot faster?

Yup. that is the advantage. Not an insurmountable advantage but the idea in pump tournaments is to keep the differences in the game more about the ability then a tech race.

XEMON no balls squeezing?! Well that take just takes all the fun out of it.

I can manage a little over 4bps with a nice pump. With 1/8 the pump travel I imagine I could about double it. Also the gun would probably be sitting much more stable meaning grouping would also improve. I wouldn’t be the first baby to whine about it but it is, in theory, a massive advantage.

This assumes there isn’t anything stupid about it that trashes the whole experience. I haven’t shot this yet but I’d assume that’s not the case.
