I tried to use this 2005 black magic today. It had been sitting for probably 7-8 years. it shot fine but I could not get the IVG to turn. Any recommendations on what to do? I was thinking of spraying some WD-40 on it and letting it sit for 15-20 minutes. Anyone else experienced this /fixed it?

Legends, the both of you. I have never shot one of these short bodies. looks like the IVG has a gap every 1/3rd turn and the screw locks it in place. Makes sense. you could crank these up too easy without that I suppose.
Thanks so much. I am glad I asked before doing something stupid!

That might be I've of the old school versions. They used to not be threaded, there were basically 4 positions you could select to set the IVG/velocity at

It’s not really a feature it’s due to the rear grip frame screw being to long. Often people reverse them when taking them apart. They will bind on the springs and IVG if they are to long. Sometimes they are not adjustable but one thing can be sure if it’s not coming out it’s likely the grip frame screw holding it in.
