2k+ Sniper weird leak out back

first time cocker owner. I bought a wgp regged sniper that had been run exclusively on hpa it’s whole life, but I wanted it for stock class.

I first ran a bucket changer through the bottom line asa and it shot fine, 25-27 shots. No problems.

Later on I decided I wanted to have a more conventional SC setup to speed up 12g changes, so I just took off the reg and screwed the bucket straight in. It again shot even better at 30-31 per 12.

Yesterday I wanted to try out a new barrel that came in, loaded up a 12 and it spewed all of the place. I thought maybe the velocity was too high so I lowered it, threw in another 12, the gun just farted. I adjusted the velocity back and forth, but couldn’t get anything meaningful to happen. Sputter, sputter, one hard shot and then dead.

I don’t have a valve tool yet, but took everything else apart that I could and gave it another go. Holds air, I don’t have a chrono, but I started with the ivg flush and gradually increased the velocity with each test shot. when fired, air shoots out the back end, pushing the back block out and sending quite a bit of air out the feed. My guess is I need to wait for the valve tool to come in and see what’s going on there, but any other thoughts?

You definitely need to change out your valve oring and cup seal., and should return to running the HPA regulator on it. 2k cockers are not well adapted to running on unregulated CO2. You froze some orings and likely the cup seal.

Right on, thanks for responding so fast. So How do you tell if the cup seal is blown?

Cup seal would leak down the barrel, vs out the back.

If you suspect the cup seal, try cocking the shooter prior to juicing the 12ie. Still leak without the hammer resting on the valve pin? Leak change when you shoot n re cock?

i would think its the single sealing oring on the valve body if its out the back.

No it holds air until I fire, then gas out the back and through the feed.

Sounds like springing then, or cup seal, but if it holds air when cocked the cup seal itself is holding air. Then the hammer depressing the valve pin makes it leak. That tells me you need a stronger valve spring, or you have your ivg buried too far to get good velocity on the 12ies which is holding your valve open. Try simply backing the ivg up to start..

After this initially happened, I did that. Had the ivg flush with the end of the body and it would only puff. As I increased velocity, I was getting more and more pronounced air coming out the back and through the feed, it has enough force to push the back block out.

Couple of questions, some basic and dumb, but gotta ask them:

    1. Is the air coming out the back coming out the top tube or bottom tube?

    2. Is your bolt in upside down? Could cause air to be pushed every which way.

    3. Does your bolt have o-rings? Are they in good shape?

In general, if it worked before, and doesn't work now, without you changing anything, then it's a consumable (o-ring/seal) that has gone out. The fact that it holds air when cocked tells me the valve and cup seal is in decent enough shape, hence the bolt questions.

I've had the bolt upside down before lol, so definitely not a stupid question, but yes the bolt itself has good orings. I really can't tell which tube it's coming from, but enough to push the entire bolt back an inch or so and forcefully come out of the feed tube. I'm waiting on the valve tool to come in the mail to take a look at the valve and all. I'm assuming I just made a newbie error of plugging a bucketchanger straight in (no reg) and the gun was set for it's whole life to be on HPA. Once I get the tool in to check the valve out and test after replacing orings inside/using straight regged HPA. I'll follow up.
