[Rant] Friday Frustrations

Just need to vent a little... (two young daughters and covid makes for fun times).

Starting to become extremely frustrated with the local field, their refs (or lackthereof), and their "honor system". I've been able to get a handful of friends interested in playing recball and they thoroughly enjoy it however the lack of any form of etiquette by rentals is killing the fun. Mind you, we understand their rentals however the refs just dont seem to give a shit about anything. Players going out of bounds, getting shot in the face and never removing themselves from the field, etc. They go based on an honor system but it seems counterintuitive for people who dont know what the fuck they're doing.

Tailing onto that, I scrambled to put a couple of Trilogies together for my buddy and his wife (side note, thanks BrandonB and Nxt1 for the good deals) to find out they went and bought some Tippmann 98's.

Sent my prostock body to Nummech 6 weeks ago for a feedneck mod and some simple milling, no fucking idea when that's getting back to me (impossible to get an answer from him).

So here I am, couple o trillies, a parts cocker, and my d in my hand. 🤩

Definitely agree about the reffing. I find that if the refs aren't great, I tend to have a really bad time.

One of the fields I frequent has a "no bunkering" rule for recball because of all the rentals and new folks. It's tough to know if there's someone from the other team on the other side of a bunker you're moving to, so it's up to the refs to be on top of that. When the refs aren't, I get shot in the back of the head from 5 feet away.

Last week, we went to the local, had a good sized group of regulars out and a much larger group of rentals and new players. Owner made everyone go to 250FPS so all the regulars just sat down and talked all day...

Have you talked to the field's management? There's a (slim) chance that they are not fully aware of what's happening, or at least the effects. If they're willing to listen, a guy able to muster a good group around him and the money that brings might light a fire under their asses.

I was hoping to talk to the "head" ref that I've established a relationship with before the owner talk, but haven't seen him last few times.

Not sure how well the owner takes (constructive) criticism, but we'll see! Ha.

I know the frustration with waiting for milling to be finished. I’m still waiting for my stuff I sent back in early March to a machinist. He does good work and was recommended by another well known machinist. He stays in contact, but it’s been almost done for a while now.

My frustration is with the lack of communication. I can understand the time involved and I trust the place, but going weeks with no email is rough. Really wanted to put it together and test it out before the season ended

I was playing at Paintball Atlanta a couple of years ago. They have a good sized woodsball field that was the site of a 10 man event a year or so ago....
Anywho I had never played that field and was following a buddy of mine up the tape line. We start taking fire from our right and all I can see is a mask and shoulder. I blaze the hell out of the individual, turn, take fire again. This goes on a time or two and the REF I am shooing at steps out waving his arms and an orange towel while another ref runs over to tell me I am (indeed) blazing the ref. Never figured out where the actual shooter was and he eliminated me right about that same time, lol.

I’ve shot my fair share of sneaky refs at SC Village and Jungle Island. I always apologize, but shit, don’t be so sneaky.

Hey its another Friday!

Last communication on my feedneck was it went out for anno and was expected back in a few days. It's now been 23 days since then with no communication from him. Fucked up is all I can say.
