    9/16 vs 11/16 Valve

I apologize up front for probably bringing back a ten year old topic that’s been settled. I’m getting back into paintball after a long(er) hiatus than I want to admit. I’m gonna build an autocoker, but don’t know if it’s worth my time to machine the body I have for an 11/16 valve. I have tried to search and find the input I’m looking for, but haven’t found anything definitive.

On the one hand, I feel like efficiency is not what it was, regarding paying for every fill during a day of play and feel a 9/16 is good enough. However, I would think there’s more advantages to an 11/16 valve, but could be wrong?

I want the cocker to easily shoot ~300 (+/-) fps without finagling. I know the new Dye Lazarus valve seems like “THE” valve right now, but am concerned about rebuilding it down the road, not the metal bits but the orings. Also, what kind of supporting mods are needed for the Lazarus/LP cocker builds?

    Appreciate all your input!

11/16 valves are cool, but if you already have a 9:16 body and don’t want to get something like a Lazarus valve or a morph valve, don’t bother. There’s no performance increase from a standard 11/16 valve compared to a 9/16. You can easily get good efficiency, low pressure, and full velocity with a normal valve. The main reason guns went to 11/16 was simply because it’s easier to machine.

Magmoormaster hit it on the head. Unless you are after a specific valve at 11/16 there isn't really a difference once they are set up. 11/16 has a little more volume and is easier for manufacturers to machine.

The Lazarus valves are neat, but I don't think its worth the expense of machining a body for essentially a sidegrade. But if you already had an 11/16 valve body and needed to purchase a new valve and hammer they are a fine choice.

Post a picture of your cocker, and if you want, a picture of the internals. The stock internals work great, but some of the older ones work best at a little higher input pressures.

I appreciate all the input. Sounds like I’ll stick with a 9/16 valve.

I don’t have any internals. It’s just a body. I’ll try to get a pic up.

Just doing a quick search, seems a shocktech valve kit is the way to go?

As far as ease of use I would agree that the Shocktech lower tube kit is ideal. As you simply have to set the IVG two turns in and adjust velocity using the high pressure regulator

Shocktech lower tube kits are certainly a good option, but it wouldn’t be my top choice. Any of the kits from autocockerparts.com would be about as good but quite a bit cheaper. They should be about as easy to set up too. The shocktech kit will probably be more efficient, but not dramatically. And I’d argue not worth the extra $30.

This is what I've heard as well, autocockerparts.com has a kit around $60 that's supposed to be a deal. The only concerning thing is if your body is VERY old and will not work well with the LP valve.

Now I am bias to Shocktech, but the 99.00 lower tube kit is first make in the USA and been proven for years. They have been designed to do all the FPS adjustment off the Reg not the IVG.

Uses case results 300 PSI @ 300+ FPS, IVG in 1.5 to 2 turns in from flush in a mini 2k with LPC or full body no LPC

Shocktech's lower tube is made in the USA? Are their pneumatics and other parts also made in the USA? I honestly don't enjoy their parts as much as other companies. But I'd prob give them another shot if I knew they paid Americans to machine those parts.

Also didn't know their internals were designed to adjust velocity via the HPR. Funny cause their cocking rod has gotta be the most convenient option for quickly adjusting the IVG lol. Do you use the HPR to adjust velocity with your personal ST guns or sweetspot HPR and use the IVG?

Yes Made in the USA, everything but the barrel as its made by Field 1 overseas. If the parts a labeled Shocktech then its USA made if its labeled anything else like "Aftershock" then no. And YES ST cockers are designed to be adjusted off the reg. Yes I use the HPR to adj my Shocktech's, and any cocker with Shocktech lower tube kit. Keep in mind the AKA "the low pressure experts" also were designed to be adjusted off the reg. And even WGP Karni was the same.

A Shocktech or cocker with ST lower tube kit is so simple to setup. IVG 1.5 to 2 turns in from flush the reg set to 300 psi and good paint to barrel match will yead 300+ FPS.
