Some of you may recall my username, still the same old me. Didnt realize MCB had lost the old forum and user database..
For those who dont remember me, I was one of, if not THE last guy in the US who really knew how to handle, tune, and repair a racegun frame.
About 2 weeks ago, I hit the field for the first time in almost 10 years. It has reignited my enjoyment of the game. Sadly most of my gear has fallen into some state of neglect (because they were relegated to being wall hangers). I dug out my old 05 Halfblock and Dye UL Prototype Racegun, both of which are in shambles. My 05 was gutted to repair my last customers Halfy, so it was missing the sear, and sear noid, and they both need new batteries. Thankfully I have still have chargers and data cables.
The sear is a commonly broken part (which is why I had to gut my personal halfy to fix a customer gun). It breaks when tightening down the frame incorrectly. This part is rarer than hens teeth. I am having some manufactured in order to replace the sear in several frames I have which were also victims of cannibalization, along with their kicker solenoids.
I have also found a manufacturer of 600Mha AAAA batteries and have ordered enough to build brand new packs for the 5 frames I have. The batteries were the biggest hurdle since the AAAA had been discontinued for a LONG time.
I have found a manufacturer for the kicker solenoids.
LEMO Still makes the correct plug, so I am going to try and update the plug to use USB instead of serial and make data cables, I could probably also make chargers.
I am trying to find suitable replacements for the 3way noid.
The only thing I CANNOT replace is the actual hardware board itself. Though, I might try to hire someone to design a board based on an updated version of the chip in V2 boards (dont hold your breath.. but that would be fun)
Would anyone else be interested in reviving some RaceGun frames?
