    Newb Trilogy Sport Owner

So i just bought one off ebay on friday and plan to take it out next month sometime.
In the meantime i plan to make sure its in working order and change out afew things.
Since this is the sport its basically the base model from my understandings. I read that the sport can have issues when trying to use HPA since it was meant to be used with co2.
Im currently hunting for a used carbon fiber hpa tank locally so want to make sure my cocker will play nice with HPA.

Im assuming i would be good if it get
    -Dye Lazarus Valve
-Adjustable Regulator (recommendations on this as this is a budget build) (or maybe get a stock regulator off a comp/pro to save cash)
-Oring kit (recommendation on what oring kit to get)

Is there something else i am missing?

I also plan to look for a
    -14" Barrel probably Smartparts Progressive
    -Revy Hopper

    Thanks in advance

Couple things, the stock valve can be modified to work with hpa. It is much easier to do with a lathe if you have one, but not necessary. The front half has to be drilled out to a 1/4". Do not drill through the back portion. It helps keep the cup seal centered so it will properly seal. Personally i think this is a easier option than going down the lazarus valve route as your trading 1 static seal for 3 dynamic seals. Or if you want to buy a valve the shocktech phat rat will work if you use a spring perch. (https://beardedworks.com/products/bw...d-trilogy-body)

Adjustable regulator, I would recommend cp. They work get the job done and easy to use.

Oring kit, pick one up from the oringstore.

Skip the progressive barrel and buy a cheap barrel kit.

Thanks, maybe ill give this a shot once i have it in my hands before buying a different valve

Given it is a closed-bolt pump you will want a barrel sized to be slightly smaller than your paint to avoid roll outs. Barrel kits are a great option that can be had for a decent price. I only mention that because I believe a SP Progressive is a one-piece barrel, which may work just fine, it just depends on your paint size,

Random but were the Trilogy Autococker Pro SF barrel sets any good? Comes with .687/.689

They’re good, but big for most modern paint

Or put a dab of fingernail polish in your barrel and call it good enough.

Also worth checking out are the dummy detents for sale here:

Made some for myself, ended up with a lot of extra. laser cut Mylar, approx .010” thick. Maybe similar to the freedummy detents? But made of a continuous piece, constant thickness. Wedged between AC body and barrel. I find they really shine when slightly over bored with bad paint. If you have oval paintballs, under boring

These will allow you to use any barrel without rollouts, though your mileage will vary with efficiency if you’re using a larger bore barrel.

The Trilogy Sport I have runs fine on standard output (~850psi) HPA, no modifications necessary.

Just bring some masking tape or something to address possible rollouts from the barrel.

electrical tape is the move. It holds up better and doesn't fall apart.

Spoken like a true cocker owner. Get it to work and then change it until it doesn't not work better

Just to second the above statement, I have had 2 sports that ran/chrono'ed fine on HPA. In fact, I didn't even realize they had different valves until after trying to mess with them

This is the first I'm even hearing about them not running well on HPA. I just thought it was understood that they were valved for higher input pressures, like pre-'97 cockers.

They run fine, people just have issues getting them to shoot at velocity. Specifically when adding a regulator.

I agree, cp is not the cheapest but easily one of the best values. If you don't like the styling look at shocktech as well. Their reg uses cp internals but has a different styling on the outside

Oring kit, pick one up from the oringstore.
The o ring store doesn't sell individual kits for markers and the assortments they do have, only about half the sizes at best are useful for paintball. For his situation it's probably better to get a trilogy specific kit for now and then build a kit from the o ring store down the road

Skip the progressive barrel and buy a cheap barrel kit.
I agree with this though, a kit will be useful for markers past the trilogy

I'm pretty sure the point at which it stopped working better was maybe halfway to where it currently sits.... Yeah

Since im doing everything on a budget im looking at used gear in general.
I know ppl say the revy fits the trilogy pretty well compared to most modern hoppers.
Theres a halo too locally i can grab for about $25.
Will this still work i just need to sand the hopper until it fits or is the size difference huge?

What is your total budget (including shipping) for a barrel that won’t rollout and a revvy?

Grab it. Those are great starter hoppers.

Sanding may be needed but the good news is if by chance you go to far a new shell is easy to come by
