    Old Sniper, S# R6243

Someone asked a question about my old Sniper, so I took it off the wall to check it out.

I stripped it down so I knew what I was working with:

    Sheridan based lowers:

    Sheridan style frame:

Some corrosion on the guide rod (which I elected not to take off the gun):

    1. Cleaned up the body and tubes, resurfaced (lightly) the valve seat, replaced the valve oring, and put the lower tube back together to check for leaks. Since it would have been used with unregulated Co2, I figured 600psi HPA wouldn't hurt it. Screwed a bottle into the VASA and it sealed right up, no detectable leaks.

    2. Proceeded to strip and clean the rest of the gun, set the IVG to the half way point, and put it back together.

    3. Dry fired with no issues detected, so I set up the chrony.

    4. Fifteen shots, 600psi HPA, reballs, with the shorty barrel:
    - First shot was 286! i was a bit surprised.....
    - Highest was 289fps, lowest was 268...
    - Barrel was .690, reballs were considerably smaller...

    5. I didn't bother to change the IVG setting....

The old thing is still playable.......

This thing is a nail driver. Whoever owned and sprung it before knew what they were doing, I’m getting 35+ shots off a 12 gram and that’s with the golf ball size barrel, not touching the IVG, standing halfway in my basement with 25 degrees outside. Won’t have to touch the springs, just need a modern bolt, these ball bearings are a bitch. Great buy, thanks for doing business.
