    Ram Thread Repair

Not that long ago Angry Antle did a thread repair modification to a belsales evo ram that had damaged threads. He did it because the ram was anodized to match the rest of the marker.
I decided to do my own spin on that as i had a broken inception ram I was waiting to get to with all of my other projects…. Anyway.
Below is the before picture, showing the broken ram threads.

I bored the back of the inception ram to until it just broke through the oring groove. Then thread milled it for 3/8 - 36 ( I think that was the right size). Checked to make sure it threaded in like it should and then modified the shocktech threaded portion.

The shocktech part needed to be drilled through to match the larger inception shaft. Front needed to be cut back to match the depth from the back of the ram to the oring groove. Threads chamfered to allow it to sit flush against the oring wall. Lastly chamfer front and back of the bored hole to remove the sharp edges.

Solid work! Is that stainless part internally hex broached?

Thanks. No it is not, but that would be awesome if it was.

I did go back and watch Jason's video a few times and it looks like he machines through the oring groove in the back of the ram base and then enlarges the shocktech threaded adapter to hold the larger oring. He also removes threads above the oring groove. I think this is more because he is likely using a tap and doesn't have full threads to the bottom. That was the reason i decided to threadmill them. Also because i had the threadmill on hand.

Another item on your list of services? Or is this something on the list you don't want to do again like some milling you did for me

I will likely offer this. It wasn't too bad. If i make another, i will likely try to do the shocktech piece on the mill too.
