Anybody know if any... ANY... Other guns share the Stingray 2's barrel mount up? Is there a possibility of getting something longer for my Stingray 2 or am I just resigned to getting one machined?

Well, the Stingray 2 is unique, doesn't share a barrel with anything else. Even the older Stingray 1 is technically different in barrel mounts, but close enough that some o-rings or a few wraps of electrical tape will have a barrel from one fit the other.
That being said, a ton of barrels were made specifically for the Stingray 2. Smart parts (personally seen a Progressive, a Tear Drop, and All American for a ray 2), J&J, Armson, Taso, CMI, heck even Dye all made barrels for the Stingray 2. Yes, I said Dye, I have a 12" Dye aluminum in my personal collection of Stingray barrels.
Though the numbers of these barrels seemed to go down once Lapco released their Remora Stingray barrel adaptor, which lets you use any Spyder threaded barrel you want.
They're discontinued now, but still not too hard to find...
And do remember the poor old Stingray hasn't been made for a couple of decades now, any aftermarket parts will be nearly as old, so are getting rather rare on their own. Keep searching ebay, eventually something shows up. -

Always wondered if a Freak back could be made for the 'Ray. I haven't had one in the shop since the early oughts, and I never bothered getting measurements.
Anybody want to loan me one? I might be able to make a short run of Remoras, too.

I designed and 3d printed a freak backed Stingray 2 barrel. Worked better than the stock unported barrel for sure!Comment

My only concern is the grooves for the pins. If they're deeper than we hope the insert might actually protrude into the grooves. Of course if you're using the stock plastic pins this won't be much of an issue.Originally posted by DocsMachine View Post
Another issue is that the bolt does enter the barrel slightly during the firing cycle. The stock bolt is tapered a bit on the tip to keep this from being a problem, and the stock barrel is chamfered a bit to help as well. So you can get weird aftermarket part interactions. I had an Armson barrel, which was less chamfered than the stock barrel to, in theory, get a bit better seal with the stock bolt so less blowback up the feed. I also had one of those blue Starfire bolts, which was less tapered at the tip to get a bit better seal with the stock barrel, for presumably the same reason. When put together you get a loud PING every shot as the bolt hit the barrel. Ended up chamfering the Armson barrel with a dremel so I could stand to shoot it.
I'll have to scrounge a bit to see if I have enough parts to piece together an actual stock Stingray 2. And if I can find any stock barrels. If someone else has one ready to ship out, please, go ahead and save me an afternoon scrounging through boxes.Comment

Some quick measurements of a Stingray 2 barrel. Freak insert outer diameter vary slightly, but tend to be around 0.742". The grove for where the retaining pins go through appears to be about 0.740" diameter, but I'll admit that isn't a very accurate measurement as my smallest calipers don't fit into the grove very well. Needless to say however, they are very close to the same size. However, the grove for the retaining pins doesn't need to go all of the way around the barrel like it does stock. In fact, as I recall, various aftermarket barrels/barrel adapters don't go all of the way around, and just have a set of parallel slots for the retaining pins. So even if the insert is slightly exposed where the pins go through, it isn't a big deal.
The other smallest part of the barrel is about 0.815" OD (there is a smaller grove where the bumper o-ring sits, but it isn't required, as it only helps retain the o-ring from slipping). However, as mentioned above, the bolt does go into the barrel. It's goes into the the barrel quite a lot actually. At rest, the bolt is about 0.450" in the barrel. With the valve completely open, the bolt moves forward about another 0.200". So the bolt enters a max of about 0.650" into the barrel.
So, a freak back should be doable (as already proven by shooter311), it's just the insert will have to be entered from the front, like with AutoMag and Tippmann freak backs.

Yeah, the Stingray barrels I saw back in the day, only had two separate grooves for the pins. With the plastic pins, it might be doable, but we'll see.
I have a couple different tricks up my sleeve for insert retention- been playing with them off and on for things like M98s, Carters and Rangers. Might be interesting to try one of them here.
