    Replacing Carter Puncture Pin/Seal

    Hey all!

I'm curious if the phantom puncture pin assemblies are compatible with the carter ones. Potentially looking to replace the one I have, if at least the puncture seal part. It's like a slightly rubbery/malleable red material. Had a 12 gram get stuck today (inside duck handle) and had to disassemble to get it out. Ones after were fine, but just wanted to potentially prevent this from happening in future.

    Thanks for your knowledge/insight!

I can't say 100% but none of my Carter changers were.

Thanks! I was assuming as well and I didn't want to try and disassemble to put one on just in case it might mess it up.. Sometimes we SHOULDN'T tinker..

I am trying to remember, but one of them took like a faucet washer size and another took the same size as a PGP.
Chances are your 12gram got stuck due to bad 12gram tolerances, not the seal. If it isn't leaking then don't worry about that.

The Carter puncture pins were typically re-purposed old nelspot parts. The little white seal that goes into that puncture pin is a real pain to get in/out. Here are some of those seals, but man super expensive: https://baccipaintball.com/nel2085.html

My Duck was Just a cut down CCI puncture pin. I ground it down chased the threads and locktite it in place. If the grip is loose and moves around you won’t get the 12g to drop out. It’s got to be just right.

12g sticking could be because the pin is worn so it stabs the 12g to deep and gets stuck as well.

I ended up replacing with a trimmed CCI puncture seal and it works perfectly now, before it had a red older seal/seating where 12 grams would just get stuck to that because it kept a tacky/sticky finish from age.
      Working...
