Ok, not trying to be a dick by any means, but it's "through", not "threw". I went THROUGH the tunnel. I THREW the ball.

Sorry. That was bothering me. Love ya Chuck.

Thank you for taking that well. My new years resolution was to be less of an asshole. It's hard. It comes so naturally. Lol. But you've been good to me in the past. I didn't want to insult you.

I do wonder if it makes good business sense to keep driving up the price of a base Phantom. This grip frame is $300. Almost exactly four years ago I bought an entire brand new Phantom for $325. That’s a meteoric rise in the kind of financial outlay associated with Phantom ownership. The 2.0 breach is triple the cost of the old one despite the only difference being two more holes added to it.

For CCM money there are actual CCM guns…at this rate you’ll be able to buy a Freeflow cocker for what what a Phantom costs. The industry’s most famous entry-level pump is heading towards four digit pricing.
    Agreed.
I'd really like to see Valken or GI re-enter the Nelson clone market in a way that shakes things up again but I fear the Empire Trracer might have been the last, best hope for that.

The empire trracer is on my list to try sometime. One of two markers I wish I bought new when they were cheap. The other being the bt sa17. .

So I had a hell of a time getting the supplied frame plug to seal up. There was too much Teflon tape on the grub screw so it wouldn’t start well. I ended up chasing the threads with a tap and installing a different grub screw because the one they gave me I stripped out trying to get it in. It’s all sealed up and good to go no leaks. The factory gaskets sealed up on the first 12g with no leak down. So I think this is going to function great. Shot some over the Big Red without touching the TPC and it’s within 20fps of the standard setup so if there is a volume difference it isn’t much with the grip frame plug in place. I will do a proper efficiency test on it later. But so far super happy with the upgrade.

I no longer own a Phantom (have a Trracer for SC), but I'm very interested in an efficiency test. I always stick my 12 grams right off the back to get as much as possible out of them.

It’s a lil cool out today to get some decent 12g numbers. But I’m not noticing a massive difference in velocity so I’m thinking it’s going to be fairly similar in efficiency number’s especially with the frame hole plugged. It might even be less volume that way as it’s more direct to the valve without the volume of the elbows. Could be why I’m seeing a lil drop in velocity from just the swap. I need to get some HPA to because I’m hoping the volume change don’t effect my ability to get velocity on the stock Silver Springs without swapping out Springs. Worst case I could always bump input pressure to compensate for it if needed on my 9ci bottle. But I’m hopeful I won’t need it because is super close.

I just got mine in the mail today, ordered last Thursday so very quick shipping to FL. Didn't see this post so I posted my pics and initial thoughts in the pump forum. Overall, I am impressed with how clean the frame is. I really cannot believe that I finally had the opportunity to buy a gas through frame for my phantom. I know some people have made a few in the past, but I always missed out!

Tried mine with a 12g and it sealed up well. Only put a few dry fires through it, unfortunately won't likely get it to the field any time soon

If you have a check valve in the lever changer you can just cycle through CO2 cartridges to fill (prime) the expansion chamber for extra volume. This is essentially how my Spring fed Phantom is setup and I recharge with 3 cartridges then leave the fourth in before a game. I then change the cartridge every other time I reload my spring feed. God I need to break it out and use it this weekend

If (that is a big IF) I was to build a new Phantom I definitely would try out the gas-through frame. I really like latches109 images above that is a real clean look. My current Phantoms would not benefit from this as I have a side saddle CO2 lever changer on my Duckslide and my spring fed Phantom could use this frame (air setup similar to latches109 image immediately above) but would not really gain any improvement because it is already hard-lined and that is "tight" enough for me. I like the idea of internal passages but I would not change an existing working build to to gain it but it would definitely interest me in a new build if I was so inclined.

I really like the clean look, I was already leaning on the back bottle 12g setup for no hardline hose. Problem was when I run the tPix zeta mags they interfere with the 12g clearance for my hand. The gas through is flexible so I do not need to have two separate phantom setups - just one and swap the feed and air I prefer for that day.

Which on/off, ball, check valve do you use to prime? Ever try priming with HPA before the game and then use CO2?

Factory the Micro CA -II changers have check valves built in.

You can make them pretty easy for the ICD / CCI Bucket. With an oring stainless ball and pen spring. Just have to be careful when removing the changer it’s installed correctly.

Chuck E Ducky has it right the check valve is in the Micro CA II. Mine was missing so I just made one with a flat head screw and a spring out of a ball point pen. It does not provide a perfect seal but enough to quickly cycle in a CO2 cartridge. Some day I will make a better check valve but this is working well enough. I have been thinking about in the future changing over to an on/off like the ID EZ-on/off so I would get the benefit of being able to bleed down at the end of the day. Right now I have to shoot it down or crack the seal between the stock and the ASA to fully degas.

You could prime with a CO2 or HPA bottle you would just need a dummy CO2 cartridge connected to an ASA that you could slap into the stock. I literally have hundreds of CO2 cartridges (I was buying bulk whenever sales happened, whether I needed them or not) and I really do not play stock class all that often. Downside of my move back south definitely less of a stock class area down here compared with I was up in MA.

After seeing your image with the expansion chamber mounted I started thinking that would be better then my gas-thru grip if I can find a small one

I'll have to pull off my ICD lever changer of my Duckslide and tear it down to see if I can make an easy DIY check valve for it. Wouldn't use it on the Duckslide that is my dedicated stock class marker but now I am curious. There appears to be less space in the ICD lever changer then in the Micro CA II between the piercer and the ASA body to put a check valve and you have to have a way to retain it which is built into the Micro CA II.

I mean, I get it. Truly. Not worth it from any practical standpoint. I'm rather utilitarian with most of my stuff & I'd never buy one. But most people aren't so utilitarian to the point that they don't find enjoyment in something that's a little different. I can see a market for it & many would likely enjoy it, despite my personal thoughts on it.

Make something that people would want, they'll buy it, and that keeps the business rolling. Capitalism, baby- that's how we get good stuff down the line. I run an Emek (arguably the best value in paintball today), so I'm benefiting from everyone's stupid electro spooler purchases over the last 20 years.

Yup, maybe not the most practical, in the most utilitarian sense of practical, but it works, sends little round things down range to eliminate opponents and looks pretty. I will most likely not (though never say never) downsize the Duckslide. It takes up so little space in my bag that it goes with me just on the off chance I get to play some stock class games with some like minded individuals. It is eventually going to be modified like BLachance75's with milling down the top rail to mount the feed more traditionally. They are playable in the stock for but a reciprocating feed takes some getting used to and I still screw it up occasionally (guess I need to play more).

Having the rail milled down was the best thing I did. I pump way too violently to use it in the stock format so I ended up with a soupy mess most of the time.

Can you post some pictures of your side air setup. I like my out the back but it is long and gets in the way at times. It would be nice to have it tucked in the side.
