Well, I went and did a very home-brew mod to a cci pump handle I had around. This is by no means a new idea or mod, but I’m posting to share how easy it was for anybody who is interested in doing the same.
Being a total cheapass, I wanted to avoid buying an undercocking kit for my recent build and happened to have one stock pump handle laying around. I wanted to use it with a cocker threaded freak barrel, and that of course has an OD if 1 inch (plus or minus the width of a gnome’s pubic hair) but because the cci barrel OD is 7/8ths the stock pump handle hole was too small. I have no real machining tools, but I do have a well stocked garage refrigerator full of good beer. So I got thinking….
Enter one hour, three beers, a Dremel, and one union mandated smoke break later - and I’ve got myself a nice little modified handle. It’s basically a “semi undercocking” handle now. A healthy dose of Dremel time plus hand file and sanding at various grits got us to where we are now. The process is pretty self explanatory but if you’d like more of a play by play, let me know. Please wear a dust mask and eye protection if you do this, I am not liable for injuries, damage, or any other bad outcomes resulting from your lack of forethought or stupidity if you try this.
And because Chuck E Ducky answered my call for more pump handles for über cheap, I will be doing a few more. I actually finished one additional today, so there’s now two. Chuck E Ducky sent me three total, so I’ve got two more to mess with. The ultimate goal is to have a couple ready for walzmas if there’s anybody who wants one.
sorry pics are dark. I’ll get others to replace them soon.
