    Horizontal tank mounting options?

I know very little about this lil guy I picked up in a big lot of gear. Is there an ASA (or better, an ON/OFF) option that levels out the tank angle to match the barrel, rather than being at a slight decline? I discovered the CCM frames that are perfectly flat on the bottom, but turns out finding one of those is difficult/expensive. Thanks!

Your bigger challenge may be to find an ASA that doesn't mount at an UPwards angle because of the design of the bottom of the CCI .45 grip blocks. ASP/Airsoldier used to make mounting wedges with integrated rails that corrected the upward sweep of these .45 blocks but they may be out of production now.

How much of an angle is there? I say go whole hog and embrace the angle put a long drop on it that is reversed and make that into a stock. With the jokes out of the way would a tiny drop make the tank line up right?

The tank angle is a holdover from the days of Co2 to prevent liquid from getting into the marker.

Like others in here have said, embrace the angle.
horizontal mount feels really weird on phantoms anyway

Do the current .45 blocks from Extreme Velocity not do this? I thought they had fixed this a while back.

That's not true. They also raised prices.

Thank you everyone. Admittedly yes, I am wanting it to feel like a more modern setup. I also wanted the option to have a big tank for situations like Supergame, where you could be out in the middle of a game for like an hour and the fill station is a quarter mile hike through the woods. Carrying a lot of paint is easy, carrying a lot of air in the form of dozens of 12g's or multiple tanks is not as easy. Or hell, maybe it is - I've never done it! I'll get out there and try this setup out before making any rash decisions.

Do what you like , you know the saying about opinions and how everyone has one. I like a big tank as well and play all the time with a Phantom. Get out there and shoot that thing. Most people offering up their “opinions “ I would say never even play.

I was going to respond with something equivalent. Configure your equipment so that it makes you happy and screw what others think (opine).

Pull the CCI/EV bottom line and replace it with a Duckbill ASA and it will get you closer to level:

I never was a fan of CCI's bottom line even though I own a few. I do not like the large drop in angle it feels more awkward to hold then a less angled bottom line.

There are all sorts of AR to 1911 grip blocks out there and some are flat bottomed that is what is essentially used on a Phantom.

Wouldn't a straight duckbill give it an upwards angle?

If you don't have the scratch to completely replace the grip block you can look around for an adapter that yields the angle you want.
I ended up using an old ACI bottomline adapter with mine, though I had to carve off a little material with my dremel to get it to sit just right.

Depends of the 45 block on the Phantom.

There's a super easy and affordable way to adjust the angle of the tank. But it's a bit janky. Just stick a washer or two or three between the asa and grip on one of the screws.

Does tend to look a bit less janky when used on the back screw (lowering a flat asa on an angled grip) then on the front, but as a temporary setup it doesn't matter anyways.
