    This pump handle is different

Just noticed that my other pump handles are not hollow'd and weight difference is subtantial. I like this one better but it need a sleeve the new rod have a lot of play, anyone ever sleeved those

Laughed so hard at the comment alone and then scrolled and saw the mock-up. 🤣🤣🤣

I wonder if you could get a shim 3d printed to fix your wobble

Could you put a pump plate on it?

Fill the hole with epoxy and drill it out to size?

change the new rod. I believe they are necked down and create the wobble.

The size of the hole in the acetal is unimportant with the pump plate installed given the bore in the acetal is larger then the hole in the pump plate. The bearing surface for your pump guide is the actual aluminum pump plate hole which in my experience is smaller then the hole in the handle itself. If the hole in the pump plate is too large for the pump guide then find a bronze bearing of the correct ID, drill out the pump plate so you can press fit the bronze bushing. You really do not want to fill the acetal bore and re-drill it as that will increase you potential surface contact area raising your overall resistance.

They are cut away like that to lower pump pressure resistance. The guide rods ride on the pump plate not the Delrin Handel. If you put the proper plate on that handle for your guide rod it won’t wobble. Older ones were not machined out like that but the bore was inlarged so it slides smooth and allowed the pressure to escape and they put the return spring in there. Before this they made a fluted guide rod. It allowed the pressure built behind the pump guide rod channel to escape offering a lighter faster pump stroke. If you ever owned an Empire sniper this has a lot to do with why the stock handle binds over time. Paint seals the air’s escape route behind the guild rod. Inception fix is a fluted guide rod and a new handle that allows for the pressure and paint to escape. People say the handle swells but if it’s truly made of Delrin it should not swell. It’s possible that it’s not made of delrin. Real delrin don’t swell that’s basically what make delrin delrin. It resistance to oil and swelling with low drag properties.

As you can see even the Clear CCM handles have a larger bore then the guide rod itself. The handle rides on that 1/4” surface on the bore of the pump plate not the Delrin. They don’t wobble because the tolerance are perfectly matched on the pump plates. However different generations used different size pump plates so you have to be careful. The older handles do not fit on the newer guide rods.

Old vs new Fluted guide rod.

Chuck the 2017 j2's had a necked down guide rod. the end bulged and im guessing that is what is on this one. It wobbled because the whole pump handle was supported by less than 1/2" of material. I can probably dig mine out if i need to. I swapped it as soon as a noticed it.

gived away the original rod thinking the necked down was a flaw then the new rod came also neckd down but less and they dont wobble as much in the new handles

That’s a J6 it started as a late model 2 piece S6 I put the Fluted guide rod on after. Mine don’t wobble at all but my J2L handle would not fit on the J6 rod they were different dimensions. Point is not all of the CCM kits are universal threw out the years.

Turned a piece on the lathe but wall ended too thin and cracked. Will look for a straw 10mmOD definitively need something in there even with the backplate and I tryed 3 diffrent era rods..not fluted

You need the back plate for that handle. There is an aluminum piece that bolts to the plastic. Preferably one that fits the guide rod you have already. That handle will fit any of the new guide rods because the Ez Grip is a newer style handle.
