NYX Eggi LED Board Manual ☺ For the legendary and EXTREME!!! New York Extreme Matrix

    NYX Manual

    1.1 Anti-Bolt-Stick (ABS)

When ABS is activated the dwell is increased after 15 seconds of being idle. This helps to prevent bolt-stick but may result in higher first-shot velocity.

Dip 1 off (factory default) = ABS off
Dip 1 on = ABS on

    1.2 Eye sensitivity

The eye sensitivity setting determines the time that is needed to allow the next ball to settle into the breech. Too sensitive an eye setting may result in chopping and too high a setting will limit the ROF. Optimal Sensitivity setting varies between different paintball brands and loaders.

The most sensitive (and fastest) setting is 1:

Halo (or faster loader) should be set to Dip 2 off & Dip 3 off = 1
    Evolution/y Dip 2 off & Dip 3 on (factory default) = 2
    Revy X Board Dip 2 on & Dip 3 off = 3

    1.3 Configuration mode

Additional settings can be modified in configuration mode. To activate the configuration mode, turn your gun off and set the Dip 4 to on position and turn your gun back on. 3-color LED cycles through all colors for one second will indicate that you have entered the configuration mode.

Dip 4 on = Configuration mode
Dip 4 off = Normal mode

To cycle through different settings, pull and release the trigger. Configuration mode has three settings that can be changed:

    Green — trigger bounce

Trigger bounce is the amount of time that the trigger has to be released before the next trigger pull is allowed. In some configurations, a debounce setting of 1-2, may cause the marker to begin firing multiple times per every trigger pull.

    Values are 1 - 20 (factory default is 5)

    Red — dwell

Dwell is the amount of time that the solenoid will be activated.

    Values are 5 - 30 (factory default is 18)

Yellow — rate of fire when eyes are activated.

Values are 5 - 24 (factory default is 24 BPS)

    1.4 Changing settings

When you set the values, remember that the dwell and ROF has a minimum factory preset of 1:5 units, this means that if you i.e. set the dwell to 20, you have to pull the trigger 16 times. And 16 red flashes equals a dwell setting of 20. Moreover, for example, if you want a dwell of 16, it's 1:5 + 11:11 which equals to 12 flashes (for a dwell of 16.) The same minimum preset of 5 applies to the ROF setting. However, for the trigger bounce setting, it starts at 1, hence it's a 1:1 count for each blink.

Notice: The optimal performance range of the dwell for an NYX Egi board and a Gen-E/Aardvark Matrix bolt-kit is 14-20 depending on several factors such as the temperature, marker operating pressure, and overall bolt performance (i.e. bolt-stick and bolt friction.) The default dwell is set at 18. Lubricant performance can vary. For optimal performance, we recommend using a thin coat of a low-friction high-quality paintball lube. Setting the dwell too low can affect the velocity and cause drop-off during rapid firing. Too high a setting can cause poor efficiency.

1.5 To change the value of a setting:

Pull the trigger and hold it for more than one second. ( When in config. mode) The LED will flash to indicate the previous setting. After that, you can set the new value with the trigger.

For example, if you want to change the trigger bounce to 3:

    A) Cycle through the menus by pulling and releasing the trigger until the LED lights green (trigger bounce).
    B) Pull and hold the trigger until the LED starts to flash (factory default for trigger bounce is 5 units so the LED will flash 5 times).
    C) When the LED stops flashing, pull and release the trigger 3 times in succession. The new value will be set after you haven't touched the trigger for one second. The LED will cycle through all colors to indicate that the new value is saved.

Notice: Just as described above, all other configurations are changed the same way, however, dwell and the ROF, where the default values start at 5, you must set the value as described in section 1.4, by taking the factory default min. preset of 1:5 units into account.

    1.6 Exiting configuration mode

To exit configuration mode, set Dip 4 to the off position.

Notice: You cannot turn your gun off with the power button when the gun is in configuration mode.

    2. General Usage

    2.1 Power button

The gun can be turned off and on by pressing the power button for 3 seconds. Notice that the power button doesn't work in configuration mode. The gun automatically switches off after 10 minutes of non-use.

    2.2 Boot sequence
When the gun is turned on, the LED will light yellow for approximately two seconds, before the gun is ready to be used.

2.3 LED operation in normal mode

    Yellow — Boot sequence

    Red — Breach is clear

    Green — Ball in breach

Flashing green — Eye malfunction, and/or eye sensor blockage. (The ROF is automatically capped to help prevent chopping.)

To troubleshoot the eye malfunction: clean the eyes (See section 2.4b) and/or check the connections.

To bypass the eyes and ROF limit: turn the eyes off by pressing the power button for 1.5 seconds until it shows the LED flashing red (eyes off)

Flashing red — ACE/Eyes are turned off

    2.4 Eyes

Eyes are always activated when you turn the gun on. To force the gun to shoot without paint, pull and hold the trigger 0.5 seconds. To deactivate the eye, press the power button for 1.5 seconds. The LED blinks red when the eyes are deactivated. The eyes can be reactivated only by turning the gun off and back on.

2.4b Cleaning the eyes (As per Egi, creator of the NYX eye system)

Notice: Any eye cleaning and/or eye troubleshooting must be performed without a High Pressure Air System (HPA) pressurizing the paintball marker. Please ensure that the marker is completely depressurized before continuing.

Cleaning the NYX external Egi eyes:

    A) Take the breach off the gun (Unscrew the breach rod from the back of the gun first.)
    B) Disconnect the external eye connector
    C) Wash the breach under a sink with running water (using mild soap is fine also.)
    D) Dry with a towel and/or a hair dryer.
    E) Make sure that the eyes are cleaned of any dust, dirt, and paint. If either of the eyes is dirty, the system will not accurately read whether there is a ball in the breach or not.
    F) Before reconnecting the external eye cable, please ensure that that connector is completely dry.

Cleaning the NYX internal Egi eyes:

    A) Take the breach off the gun (Unscrew the breach rod from the back of the gun first.)
    B) In case of an insignificant amount of paint or debris: Carefully take a damp Q-tip and clean any paint or debris off the eyes, then use a dry Q-tip to dry any dampness from the eyes.
    B) In case of a significant amount of paint or debris: take the eye-carrier off the gun by unscrewing the eye-carrier from the body. Unscrew the eye-carrier face plate, and very carefully remove the eyes from the eye-carrier.
    C) Wash the eye-carrier and breach under a sink with running water (using mild soap is fine also.)
    D) Then with a microfiber, clean any paint or dirt debris off the eyes.
    E) Dry with a microfiber towel and/or a hair dryer.
    F) Make sure that the eyes are cleaned of any dust, dirt, and paint. If either of the eyes is dirty, the system will not accurately read whether there is a ball in the breach or not.
    G) After it has been cleaned and dried, re-install the eyes inside the eye-carrier, then reinstall the face-plate on the eye-carrier, and before re-installing the eye-carrier on the body of the Matrix, test the eyes by turning the gun on and by running an object through the breach like a barrel swab or your finger to make sure that the eyes have been cleaned and that the eyes/diodes are sensing properly. The solid red light should blink green whenever it reads a "paintball" in the breach.
    H) Check to see if the eye-carrier is screwed securely to the eye-carrier face-plate. The eye-carrier should also be screwed securely to the body. If the plate or bracket is loose it could allow one or both of the eyes to move out of position and be unable to "see" the other but do not over-tighten the screws or they can wind up getting stripped.

    2.5 Checking Configurations
You can check your Dip switch configuration by pulling and holding the trigger when you turn the gun on. Hold the trigger until the LED starts flashing. Red indicates the eye sensitivity setting, yellow indicates the anti-bolt stick (ABS) setting (1 flash off and 2 flash on). For example, if your eye sensitivity is 3 and ABS is ON, then the LED will flash red three times and yellow two times.
