    NYX Manual

    1.1 Anti-Bolt-Stick (ABS)

When ABS is activated the dwell is increased after 15 seconds of being idle. This helps to prevent bolt-stick but may result in higher first-shot velocity.

Dip 1 off (factory default) = ABS off
Dip 1 on = ABS on

    1.2 Eye sensitivity

The eye sensitivity setting determines the time that is needed to allow the next ball to settle into the breech. Too sensitive an eye setting may result in chopping and too high a setting will limit the ROF. Optimal Sensitivity setting varies between different paintball brands and loaders.

The most sensitive (and fastest) setting is 1:

Halo (or faster loader) should be set to Dip 2 off & Dip 3 off = 1
    Evolution/y Dip 2 off & Dip 3 on (factory default) = 2
    Revy X Board Dip 2 on & Dip 3 off = 3

    1.3 Configuration mode

Additional settings can be modified in configuration mode. To activate the configuration mode, turn your gun off and set the Dip 4 to on position and turn your gun back on. 3-color LED cycles through all colors for one second will indicate that you have entered the configuration mode.

Dip 4 on = Configuration mode
Dip 4 off = Normal mode

To cycle through different settings, pull and release the trigger. Configuration mode has three settings that can be changed:

    Green — trigger bounce

Trigger bounce is the amount of time that the trigger has to be released before the next trigger pull is allowed. In some configurations, a debounce setting of 1-2, may cause the marker to begin firing multiple times per every trigger pull.

    Values are 1 - 20 (factory default is 5)

    Red — dwell

Dwell is the amount of time that the solenoid will be activated.

    Values are 5 - 30 (factory default is 18)

Yellow — rate of fire when eyes are activated.

Values are 5 - 24 (factory default is 24 BPS)

    1.4 Changing settings

When you set the values, remember that the dwell and ROF has a minimum factory preset of 1:5 units, this means that if you i.e. set the dwell to 20, you have to pull the trigger 16 times. And 16 red flashes equals a dwell setting of 20. Moreover, for example, if you want a dwell of 16, it's 1:5 + 11:11 which equals to 12 flashes (for a dwell of 16.) Or 12 trigger-pulls if you're changing the setting. The same minimum preset of 5 applies to the ROF setting. However, for the trigger bounce setting, it starts at 1, hence it's a 1:1 count for each blink.

Notice: The optimal performance range of the dwell for an NYX Egi board and a Gen-E/Aardvark Matrix bolt-kit is 14-20 depending on several factors such as the temperature, marker operating pressure, and overall bolt performance (i.e. bolt-stick and bolt friction.) The default dwell is set at 18. Lubricant performance can vary. For optimal performance, we recommend using a thin coat of a low-friction high-quality paintball lube. Setting the dwell too low can affect the velocity and cause drop-off during rapid firing. Too high a setting can cause poor efficiency.

1.5 To change the value of a setting:

Pull the trigger and hold it for more than one second. (When in config. mode) The LED will flash to indicate the previous setting. After that, you can set the new value with the trigger.

For example, if you want to change the trigger bounce to 3:

    A) Cycle through the menus by pulling and releasing the trigger until the LED lights green (trigger bounce).
    B) Pull and hold the trigger until the LED starts to flash (factory default for trigger bounce is 5 units so the LED will flash 5 times).
    C) When the LED stops flashing, pull and release the trigger 3 times in succession. The new value will be set after you haven't touched the trigger for one second. The LED will cycle through all colors to indicate that the new value is saved.

Notice: The dwell and ROF default values start at 5, thus you must set the value as described in section 1.4, by taking the factory default min. preset of 1:5 units into account.

    1.6 Exiting configuration mode

To exit configuration mode, set Dip 4 to the off position.

Notice: You cannot turn your gun off with the power button when the gun is in configuration mode.

    2. General Usage

    2.1 Power button

The gun can be turned off and on by pressing the power button for 3 seconds. Notice that the power button doesn't work in configuration mode. The gun automatically switches off after 10 minutes of non-use.

    2.2 Boot sequence

When the gun is turned on, the LED will light yellow for approximately two seconds, before the gun is ready to be used.

2.3 LED operation in normal mode

    Yellow — Boot sequence

    Red — Breech is clear

    Green — Ball in breech

Flashing green — Eye malfunction, and/or eye sensor blockage. (The ROF is automatically capped to help prevent chopping.)

To troubleshoot the eye malfunction: clean the eyes (See section 2.4b) and/or check the connections.

To bypass the eyes and ROF limit: turn the eyes off by pressing the power button for 1.5 seconds until it shows the LED flashing red (eyes off)

Flashing red — ACE/Eyes are turned off

    2.4 Eyes

Eyes are always activated when you turn the gun on. To force the gun to shoot without paint, pull and hold the trigger 0.5 seconds. To deactivate the eye, press the power button for 1.5 seconds. The LED blinks red when the eyes are deactivated. The eyes can be reactivated only by turning the gun off and back on.

2.4b Cleaning the eyes (As per Egi, creator of the NYX eye system)

Notice: Any eye cleaning and/or eye troubleshooting must be performed without a High Pressure Air System (HPA) pressurizing the paintball marker. Please ensure that the marker is completely depressurized before continuing.

Cleaning the NYX external Egi eyes:

    A) Take the breech off the gun (Unscrew the breech rod from the back of the gun first.)
    B) Disconnect the external eye connector
    C) Wash the breech under a sink with running water (using mild soap is fine also.)
    D) Dry with a towel and/or a hair dryer.
    E) Make sure that the eyes are cleaned of any dust, dirt, and paint. If either of the eyes is dirty, the system will not accurately read whether there is a ball in the breech.
    F) Before reconnecting the external eye cable, please ensure that that connector is completely dry.

Cleaning the NYX internal Egi eyes:

    A) Take the breech off the gun (Unscrew the breech rod from the back of the gun first.)
    B) In case of an insignificant amount of paint or debris: Carefully take a damp Q-tip and clean any paint or debris off the eyes, then use a dry Q-tip to dry any dampness from the eyes.
    B) In case of a significant amount of paint or debris: take the eye-carrier off the gun by unscrewing the eye-carrier from the body. Unscrew the eye-carrier face plate, and very carefully remove the eyes from the eye-carrier.
    C) Wash the eye-carrier and breech under a sink with running water (using mild soap is fine also.)
    D) Then with a microfiber, clean any paint or dirt debris off the eyes.
    E) Dry with a microfiber towel and/or a hair dryer.
    F) Make sure that the eyes are cleaned of any dust, dirt, and paint. If either of the eyes is dirty, the system will not accurately read whether there is a ball in the breech.
    G) After it has been cleaned and dried, re-install the eyes inside the eye-carrier, then reinstall the face-plate on the eye-carrier, and before re-installing the eye-carrier on the body of the Matrix, test the eyes by turning the gun on and by running an object through the breech like a barrel swab or your finger to make sure that the eyes have been cleaned and that the eyes/diodes are sensing properly. The solid red light should blink green whenever it reads a "paintball" in the breech.
    H) Check to see if the eye-carrier is screwed securely to the eye-carrier face-plate. The eye-carrier should also be screwed securely to the body. If the plate or bracket is loose it could allow one or both of the eyes to move out of position and be unable to "see" the other but do not over-tighten the screws or they can wind up getting stripped.

    2.5 Checking Configurations

You can check your Dip switch configuration by pulling and holding the trigger when you turn the gun on. Hold the trigger until the LED starts flashing. Red indicates the eye sensitivity setting, yellow indicates the anti-bolt stick (ABS) setting (1 flash off and 2 flash on). For example, if your eye sensitivity is 3 and ABS is ON, then the LED will flash red three times and yellow two times.

FreeFlow Matrix Anderson LCD Ramping Board Manual V. 406

          FreeFlow Matrix Anderson Board Manual

1.1 Installing Your LCD Matrix Ramping Board:

To install the LCD Matrix Ramping board you will need a pair of small electronics pliers (needle nose), 3-32 Allen key, and a 5/64 Allen key.

First remove the grips and grip frame from your Matrix. Next carefully remove the connectors from your old circuit board. Next, remove the screws holding the old circuit board. Gently remove the existing circuit board. Then remove the rear travel adjustment screw from your Matrix trigger.

Now you are ready to install the LCD Matrix Ramping board.

Slide the LCD Matrix Ramping Board into your grip frame buttons holes first. The board will fall into place but, be careful not to push the board down. Now attach the connectors and push the wires into the frame. This will keep the wires away from your trigger and remove any stress from the connectors on the LCD Matrix Ramping Board.

Recommended: Install the FreeFlow Optical Trigger with your board. The screw should go all the way through the optical sensor and be flush with the bottom of the sensor. This screw is now your fire point adjustment.

          1.2 General:

Press the top button (PB1 SEL) to turn the LCD Matrix Ramping board on. To test the trigger you should pull the trigger and see the LED display illuminate. Your LCD Matrix Ramping Board is now ready to be used.

Note: The optical sensor may sometimes be triggered by sunlight through clear grips. We recommend using only the black opaque grips that come with your Matrix. Clear grips may not stop the ambient light around the frame and can sometimes cause optical trigger malfunctions.

          1.3 Operation:

To turn the LCD Matrix Ramping Board on press the top button. To turn the LCD Matrix Ramping Board off, press the bottom button for 3 seconds. When powering off the display will read “BYE”.

          1.4 Modes:

The LCD Matrix Ramping Board has two modes of firing. AST (Semi Auto) is the fully legal tournament mode that allows you to play in all tournaments with no ramp settings. The other mode is called FF (Ramp Mode). FF mode allows you to fire with ramping settings enabled. Both modes are usable with the optical breech sensor (eye) enabled.

          1.5 Eyes:

To enable the eye in either mode you must push the middle button. When you depress the button the display will say “ON” if the eye is turning on, or “OFF” if the eye is turning off. When the eye is enabled and becomes permanently blocked with paint (if you chop a ball in the eye mechanism) then the board reverts to eye off mode after you fire the gun three times. Note: See section 2 under MODE to check your eye settings.

          2. Programming:

There are two separate menu functions that can be changed on the LCD Matrix Ramping Board. The first menu is accessed through the top button (PB1 SEL). The second is accessed through the white button on the bottom of the board (PB4 LOCK). The top button (PB1) menu includes the following options:

GAME TIMER: Set this to the desired value and your gun will start counting down as soon as you pull the trigger. When the time is 10 seconds to expiring the frame will vibrate constantly.

SHOT: This is the counter that tells you how many shots have been registered to the board.

SCROLL SPEED: This is the speed at which the scrolling display shows you the menu option.

INTENSITY: This is the intensity of the LED display. A higher number is a brighter display. Note that the display will use most of the battery power. A dimmer display will save battery life.

VERSION: The next option shows you the version of the software in the LCD Matrix Ramping Board. The most current version is V406.

BATTERY METER: The battery meter will show you in percentage points how much battery life you have remaining. A standard battery will drain to 80% quickly then stay between 80% and 60% for a long time.

The bottom button (PB4 LOCK) menu includes all the options of the PB1 menu plus:

MODE: Here you can change your board from AST (Semi Auto) mode to FF (Ramp) mode. The number after AST or FF is whether or not your eyes are enabled. Example AST0 = tournament mode without eyes enabled, AST1= tournament mode with eyes enabled, FF0 = ramping enabled without eyes, FF1 = ramping enabled with eyes.

FORWARD PULSE: One of the benefits to the LCD Matrix Ramping Board is the pulse timing. The pulse provided to the solenoid is completely even with no breakdown or time to deliver. This means that your pulse settings can be lower than your stock settings and can still give you the same results. The stock setting for the LCD Matrix Ramping Board is 13.

REVERSE PULSE: This controls the back pulse. The pulse provided to the solenoid is completely even with no breakdown or time to deliver. This means that your pulse settings can be lower than your stock settings and still give you the same results. The stock reverse pulse setting for the LCD Matrix Ramping Board is 30. The lower the reverse pulse, the faster the gun will fire.

Note: To figure out the firing rate just add the forward and reverse pulse together. Take that number (forward plus reverse) and divide it into 1000. Please note the eyes must be off to access this setting.

ABS TIME: This sets your ABS delay. The number displayed is the amount of time the gun will wait to add forward pulse to one shot. It is displayed in seconds.

ABS+ TIME: This sets your ABS add time. ABS will wait for the delay to be reached before it will add the time selected in this menu. It is recommended that ABS+ time be adjusted to 20 milliseconds if high debounce settings are being used.
