    LV 2 Trigger tuning

    Hey all,

I've been out of teching for awhile, but recently picked up an LV2 and am having some trouble getting the trigger feeling "good".

I know trigger setup is like 99% subjective, but is there a generally good starting methodology for going about getting these triggers setup? I can walk it about 7-8bps consistently (which is good enough with ramping being prevalent at most fields) but it still just feels a little off somehow.

I have the magnet return about 25% dialed and the spring return at about 50-75%. I've never been a huge fan of magnet returns, but even with the spring set screw turned all the way in, the trigger felt too slow so I added some magnet in. The switch actuation is tuned to actuate at about 2-3 mm of pull from resting and has very little over travel (maybe 1-2mm).

My favorite trigger setup was a CP sling blade on my (very) old SP Ion which was obviously only a spring return. I'm starting to think it may just be a trigger shape issue, but also don't want to just immediately blame the widely accepted as good marker ...

Honestly... PE triggers have felt horrible since the CS2, which makes me sad because I had historically always loved thier triggers. Part of the reason I will never own a newer marker of theirs. I'll stick with an LV1.6 for forever.

I feel like there's potential, I'm just used to a much different feel (i.e. super bouncy from a compression spring and bigger microswitch vs the leaf spring, magnet and tiny switch). Hopefully I find something because I also just bought a CS3 w/ mech frame off beardedworks 💀

This video actually helped quite a bit:

I think it was linked in a similar pbnation thread or something from forever ago but essentially it boiled down to
    1. more pre-travel aka longer trigger pull
    2. lighter pull
    3. adjust switch to activate near the end of the pull with a small amount of over travel
adding in more pre-travel and a slight like 1/4 turn of overtravel increased my ROF by like 4-5 bps, now i'm up around a consistent 12 on the LV2.

Yeah you don't want it to be a hair trigger, you want a bit of travel. I find something like a 2/1 or 3/1 pre-to-post travel ratio works great. You also don't want it to be too light. You want a positive return. IIRC I ran my CS1 mostly on the magnet, and ran it on the optical switch instead of the microswitch. Not sure if Eclipse guns still have both though.

Thanks for the guidance, I'm still kind of feeling it out. Hoping to get a chance to play with the new setup and see if it works for me out on the field.
    Working...
