    EMEK build from spare parts

Wondering if it's economical to build an EMEK/3M out of spare parts or just cheaper to buy a new one. This would be as a backup gun, but I find myself with a perfectly good pair of bodies and the back of the bolt assembly and it's got me thinking....

Seems kinda expensive if I was going to buy a bunch of parts from the PE spares site, especially since it's in Germany.

Anyone got some parts they want to contribute to the cause

IDK about cheaper, but ID sells original bodies, triggers, POPS, and trigger frames for EMEK/3Ms.
I think the issue is going to be sourcing parts that nobody ever replaces, like the trigger frame. ID sells one for $200, but you can get a used stock emek for that price or less (in US at least).

eBay, or posting in the Emek group if you use Facebook, or reach out to the US Eclipse. Otherwise, probably better to buy a whole thing

I used to see gen 1 frames often not so much anymore

I built one, but I had a ID 3m body/trigger that I got for a nice price. Then I waited around for a cheap donor Emek, which I took the frame and bolt from.

Then with some black friday sales I was able to snag the remaining parts I needed for good prices. A fun project that actually was pretty cost effective, since the ID body was a good price.

But it would be easier and cheaper to just buy a used Emek/3m, unless you can get parts for real cheap. It sounds like the bigger parts you need (frame, bolt parts) would cost you just as much as a used gun.

After looking around, seems like the big sticking point is actually the inline reg... can't find that thing anywhere.

I see some frames, the bolt parts are all on eBay, and so are lots of the little things. The problem is the cost adds up to over 300 and still no inline reg.

I bought a few used emek for like 250. It’s cheaper just to buy one.

Are the gen 1 frames desirable? Mine has been collecting dust for years.

They're perfectly fine, that turn switch style safety works without any issues. I guess pressing a button is a split second quicker than turning a little lever. Most people ditch the safety altogether after upgrading the trigger though

A year or so ago, a regular customer/player of ours bought a Etha 3. He wanted to get the parts needed to convert it to a 3M. Planet Eclipse refused to sell us the parts need to do the conversion citing insurance/liability concerns. Didn't really make sense anyway, as it looked like it would probably have ended up costing around the same as an Emek.
              I can haz feedback?
If I owe you feedback, just remind me, as I sometimes forget.

Well that's just wacky. Maybe they got tired of all the inbound requests for a handful of random small parts for things like that. There was a time I was able to get a few random bits for conversions and they were very helpful.
