Most Empire markers Eyes

I have a couple of Invert minis and while I like them one issue that i run into is the eyes. When they designed the eyes system they did not close them off and put them low in the breach so when you break a ball in the breach it sends paint into the eyes and paint will drain into the breach. Has anyone put nail polish, epoxy or something else over those eye holes, does it work and is there a best material. For example with best material in mind: nail polish might work for a day of play but epoxy will work for a couple weeks or more.
