Thoughts on Empire Sniper Regulator? (vs CP, Inception Designs Regulator)

What are folks' thoughts on the stock sniper reg (after replacing the o-rings and reg seat)? Compared to a ID reg? CP reg?

I'm trying to figure out if swapping out the o-rings and seat in a stock sniper regulator makes it into a sufficient regulator, or if I should plop in an after-market reg. I have an old CP reg on my current pump, but it's long overdue to get serviced... (bonus question: how can a mere mortal open up a gen 2 CP reg body?)

    Thanks!

They are good regulators when you do the service that you're describing. It's very similar to a WGP or Inception reg.

The adjustment range on them is pretty narrow. If you end up going with inception, you may find that you get a lower operating pressure if you flip or remove a regulator shim.

identical internal design to an ergo reg, sometimes the reg seats dont hold up well, there's an improved white one you can get from inception, i still use one on one of my ressys, and it works great

Not worth upgrading. Shoot it as is.

I would hold out for the new Nova Regs. As much as I disliked my N1, across the board their regs are just insanely consistent and I'm hella excited to test one out.

The reg in my Sniper went and it blew up the plastic star piece on my valve pin.

wasnt that from a seal failing causing it to no longer regulate? That could happen with any reg and the rest of the downstream components should be able to handle such failures better than that valve pin does/did. So i don't think its fair to blame the reg in this situation.

If it’s the reg seal then would it not be correct to blame the reg? It’s fixable with the ID upgrade rebuild kit, but something that has never happened on any CP or WGP reg I’ve owned. And the Sniper itself was pretty low mileage.
