    Freestyle LPR not LPRing

    Hoping someone here can confirm all the pieces are in place and facing the correct direction here. Seems pretty logical to me. Working on this for Super Nova



    This LPR doesn't seem to be working though. I air it up, starts venting through the noid, if I turn down the CP reg on it the vent will stop but it doesn't have enough pressure to actually shoot then.

    I'm hoping I'm just missing something dumb

    Are you adjusting the LPR at all? Freestyles need to be balanced, it's not a "put together and forget it" lpr. Every change to the hpr needs a corresponding change the lpr.

    General suggestion is to set to HPR to around 250-300 and make sure lpr is closed off (all the way backed out). Slowly raise lpr pressure until the bolt action is "snappy". I've attached the 2k5 Freestyle manual that has this procedure as well (though it starts at a higher HPR pressure).

      What Zinger said.... plus, my experience with ICD regs generally involves replacing them with stuff that works.

      There's probably an ICD guru out there that can make these regs work, but for the rest of us, there's PPS/AKA.

        I hate to admit it because I'm a massive ICD fan, but...yah this is accurate. I don't run a single ICD reg. The internet whispers of some easy homebrew mods that can vastly increase the performance of the stock LPRs, but I don't know the details. I'd love it if someone would post up a walkthrough. Replacing both regs Everytime I'm working on an ICD gun is not fun for my wallet.

      Yeah, the LPRs do tend to work better than the HPRs, but they're still a pain. ICD still sells their "minor rebuild kit" that includes fresh regulator springs.

      Personally, I like the AKA/JDS lpr, but it appears the one you're working on is a special/custom anno, so tough to replace it with something that's "just" gloss black.

        So if you suspect the LPR of not regulating any air, with this type of reg, you should be able to assemble it and air it up without the front cap. In that configuration, the LPR should block all air but also not leak. If it does leak, the reg seat probably needs to be flipped or replaced.

        The orientation and order of all the parts you have does seem logical to me too though.

          Yeah I already flipped it as part of my rebuild just to make sure it was on a fresh face.

          I also replaced the o ring on the front of the silver cup with a 2x6mm. That's slightly larger than the 006 that was there just to make sure it was sealing against the front block properly

          I'll try setting the HPR first though but it should already be in the ballpark

          But yeah, replacing is like last resort since it's all anno matched

            Okay so I asked on the ICD facebook group, and apparently the trick with the stock B2K LPRS is to add 3 additional air input holes. I'm not sure if this applies to freestyles too, but the reg you posted looks crazy similar to a B2K reg so it might be worth a shot if its still giving you problems.

                This tiny hole here is the issue on B2ks. Most people say you should add 3 more holes around the same size equally spaced apart. You can add more holes then that if you want, but they won't further improve performance since the internal air passages are too small anyway. Vapor Works mentioned there was more you could do on top of this to improve the stock regs performance, but he is being a party pooper and isn't telling me what they are. I'd try to use a cloth wheel on a Dremel to polish anything that you can.

                No idea if this is applicable to Freestyles as well.

                Won't that just improve flow out of the LPR? I can't see how that would fix an LPR that isn't regulating pressure.

                After polishing up the brass piece, swapping out the reg piston, replacing the "o" ring on the new piston with 90 Duro urethane AND dropping a fresh reg seat in there, I finally figured out the issue.

                It was the damn 3/32nds internal gas line. It worked fine at sub 60 psi, but above that it would leak and it sounded EXACTLY like the solenoid was venting from the LPR being too high. I replaced it with 3/32nds fuel line from ACE hardware and it's happy and ripping now.

                    Have you checked velocity? Because I got it to do that a few times but the velocity was pretty low. That bolt had more friction than I think I've ever seen in anything else

You couldn't set the LPR high enough to recock at 380 PSI without the internal gas line bleeding off, once that gas line was replaced it worked fine though. The red HE bolt ran just fine with 90 Durometer urethane, I could only get the silver bolt working with 70 Buna though. For running the Red HE bolt, it doesn't have the internal milling for the spring assist so just leave those components out.

                      380psi feels high, but if it's working, it's working. I don't remember what I had my bonebrake running at when I had it...
