The stupid LPC I dug up for this classic body has ridges that interfere with screwing in most barrels. Does anybody have one available that doesn't get in the way?
you could put a neo-power valve in there... just saying.
i feel like no one uses them lol
Tell me about this neo power valve. Is that the one with its own little spring? I think I saw that in the rare bits thread.
To put everyone's mind at ease, I have made arrangements for a Mitey Max for the main build. the parts bin build might get this shocktech lpc since it is the compact style with a vert adapter.
On that note, there is a Taso vert adapter over on ANuSGear. Do the Taso adapters have a hole for an LPC? the photo on the site is from directly to the side and it looks like the vert adapter is threaded but I can't see the front.
Yes, Taso one hole front blocks are threaded for LPC's. I have some that LPC's don't thread into well, though they are in the minority as the other Taso front blocks I have and have come across work fine.
Now if you ever find a two hole Taso front block...
I wouldn’t consider the power valve to be rare since they are still available to buy. Ansgear has them for $14.95.
They essentially replace your valve stem and valve spring with a long, spring set rod with a weird cup seal knob in the rod. You can adjust the tension on the whole rod with a hex screw in the front of the LPC.
the neo power valve is on ebay. i forget the seller (i&i)?
its the whole assembly (volumizer, valve pin, and spring) but the spring as adjustable and you can adjust the dwell. its cheap too.
I put in an order. Interested to fiddle with that too. I didn’t come across anything talking about the Neo Power Valve’s low pressure prowess. Looks like its biggest benefits are for CO2 usage and supposedly cutting down on gas consumption?
The marketing of the Neo is ability to adjust the dwell. You can increase on decrease tension on the valve spring with a hex wrench. Makes it nice for tuning. The red cup seal thing on mine dried up though and doesn't seal well. I bet some attention to it will fix it.
I got one of these Neo Power valves, and noticed my VASA block's airport hole isn't center for the valve stem to line up properly. Is there a VASA block that does? I imagine I could drill thru the center of my current one if really need to be.

Unfortunately, the Neo is made for use with full body powerfeed Spyders only. I've never tried but I'm fairly certain there is no way to modify any front block from a Compact body to work with a Power Valve.

I feel like you could just drill thru the center of the block for the stem to reach thru and you would be good, but maybe I'm missing something. With the Neo Power valve you would no longer need the inner wall of the block for the valve spring, and the block extends the air chamber to closely the same length as a full body.
No, don’t drill through the center of the VA block.
1. The Neo Power Valve is for classic bodies only. The power valve pin would have to be extremely long and the seal would need to be on the valve end of the VA. To do this you would need to design a custom power valve pin and VA to make it work.
2. From personal experience, if you want to open the ports on the VA, you cannot drill down the center of the area the secures into the spyder body. Why? Because you will break through the VA block screw threads. The air could leak past the screw when installed. Very difficult to seal. This is why the port for the valve chamber in the VA is offset to the top of the VA and not centered.
2a. With this is mind, you would cause the same issue if you drilled the VA through to use the custom power valve from point 1.
If the goal is to get LP operation and use a balance valve, get VS internals and do that mod.
