    Detent for Small Paint?

Are there any options for a longer/stiffer nubbin style detent for older Spyders? I played with my Spyder SE on Saturday and was having a hell of a time with small paint rolling past the detent and what I think was stack clipping causing a large amount of barrel breaks. It got to the point that I resorted to turning the power feed plug before moving positions.

I think that Impulse detents you could get in short and longer lengths, but not Spyder that I'm aware of. Doc sells Spyder detents in his shop, but I don't know if they're any longer than stock. I have had some success with modifying small o-rings to pinch in the detent plate and stick out a little farther into the breech.

Doc has a longer nubbin for Timmys and Spyders. Kingman used to have a red detent that was thicker at the bottom and longer which worked well a few years ago. I can't find those now, but Techt has the same style in blue now. I haven't tried those yet.

Thanks guys. I'll look into those options.

to limit offset stacking, theres an easy trick.

find a thick o-ring roughly the size of the bolt face. just a little smaller... and glue it on the face of the bolt.
make sure its not too big where it hits the d-tent.

it will prevent roll back and offset stacking. you wont have to worry about clipping the second ball in the stack.

ive had great success with this.
(get good glue though, not that $1 store or Harbor Freight sh!t)

            What glue do you use?

          gorilla super glue IIRC.

automotive weather strip adhesive would probably also work.

I've been having KCCockerDoc cut ramps on the tops of all my bolts (Like the planet eclipse cure bolts) and it completely eliminates stack clipping from small paint. Just threw half a case of sub 0.677 HK Army paint through my millennium with a gravity feed Sunday and didn't have a single barrel break, stack clip, or chop. I've tested this on Spyders, Tippmanns, Bushmasters and Impulses and it works extremely well in everything. Can't remember the last time I needed to use a squeegee.

in my trials, yeah. both work pretty freaking well. lol
but the o-ring would be better suited for force-feed hoppers.

either way, you have options to keep an old marker on the field.

was AMAZED when my loaner spyder TS didnt break a single ball with the o-ring method and a revvy hopper.

i know my old G6R bolt had both

A tad late to this party, but this is worth mentioning.

If you're getting double-feeds the loader is worth looking at. Small, modern paint + old paintguns + FF loader = potentially a bad time. I run Revolutions on my blowbacks & have zero issues. I use no bolt modifications. If you're not gonna be ripping hard on it, I would use an agitated loader.

I just picked up a red one today at the local proshop. It works perfectly on my Piranha. I'm not sure where it came from as the last time I was in they didn't have any of these.

The clear one came with the Piranha. It was enough to hold paint in the breach but would get rollouts while running. It is more flexible than all the rest (which may have to do with the age).

The first black one also came with the Piranha. It's barely long enough to make it into the breach and wouldn't even stop rollouts when just pointing the gun down. The second black one I picked up from the proshop last time I was there. It's a slightly different style but performed the exact same as the other black one. I think these might be meant for guns with dual detents (or at least thinner walls).
