Hammer Barrel Gap

I have a JnJ barrel kit that doesn't want to screw in all the way. There is a small gap that isn't there with the stock barrel. If I buy a Spyder barrel tap and run that through will it help? Or is this just an issue between generations that requires a more professional touch?

Occasionally newer barrels don't thread in so well into the older markers. It's not a super common problem but it's common enough. I have experienced it a number of times. I am unsure if chasing the threads with a tap will help or not. One would think it would.

How is it lining up inside?

It does line up.

If it lines up inside, is straight and doesn't wobble you're good 👍
If you are worried about loosening during a game, you can add an oring to "fill the gap", it will push enough friction to hold things in place

Yeah, there was a time where they changed something in the Spyder threads. While it was still in the same spec, the tolerances were a tad different and became super tight and left a gap. If your barrel shank is flush to the inside of the body, It's fine.

Hammer and early Spyder threads didn't have the ring groove seat... Later on they added that.

If you sight down the body is the barrel pointing straight? I put a Spyder Freak barrel on my Hammer and it points to the left when tight. It seems like the plunge depth is too short (if I pull the insert out slightly before threading the barrel in, then take the barrel out the insert is not fully seated into the barrel back), and the distance from the threads to the shoulder is too long. I guess the barrel threads are bottomed out on the breech threads and there is enough difference in spec that wonkiness ensues. I made a spacer out of the plastic insert from a Spyder Flash to take up the gap in the breech and it works well enough that I will probably sacrifice an old barrel to make an aluminum one.

Also what grip block is that?

The barrel looks straight to my eyes. I had thought about getting a Freak back but maybe that's not the best idea. The grip block is a CCM Phantom grip, it fits this nicely but doesn't fit on my Puma. Also great first post, very informative!
