    N-1 Tank Question

    AS those of you who follow the mail thread saw, I was recently gifted an N-1 by my family. I've got it all greased and the screws are all fine (looks like they were locked from the factory if the feedneck is anything to go by), but I do have a question regarding tanks;

    My only air tank is a Tippmann 48/3000 with the standard reg on it. Since the N-1 runs at such a low pressure, will that be too much pressure for the ASA/reg in the gun? I'm guessing a lower tank output would be a good idea eventually, but will it hurt the gun to run it with the Tippmann tank? I just got this, its my first brand-new marker in almost three decades and I very much don't want to break it.

    Nope, your ASA is a regulator that will drop pressure down to a reasonable operating pressure.

      Grendel That's what I thought, I just wanted to confirm because the guy in that video was suggesting a 500 psi output and I know my Tippmann outputs more than that.

        I run around 850 on my n1 and have had no issues.

          Well, I aired it up and cycled it a few times and it works fine. The gauge says its running at a little below 90 psi (!!!!) and holy guacamole, is it quiet. Even inside my SO couldn't hear it in the next room, and outside its just...nothing. A slight pft that doesn't even sound like paint-gun fire. Can't wait to hit the field with it tomorrow!

          Edited to add: Also, one of the many details I like about the N-1's build is where they put the gauge. It's on the back and inset, so there's really no way it can get damaged. Plus, you can see it while you're shooting it.

            Yeah. The thing is SO quiet. You have to be in the presence of it firing to even believe it.

              No kidding. I've tried one before, but I assumed the guy I borrowed it from had done something to it to make it that quiet. But no, I can attest that out of the box they are Hollywood-silencer quiet. They have a lower sound signature than my Phantom + the "rain cover" I used in the 90s. That's just wild.

                The low operating pressure is why it is so quiet and the fact there is very little mechanical movement. The N-1 is definitely quieter then my N-3 and I think that is pretty quiet. The guys [and gals] at Nova great, they have some occasional teething issues but they definitely stand behind their product and will sort things out. So if you have any issues just get ahold of them.
