Typhoon serial generations

Hello everyone. I am in the market for a typhoon and I noticed that palmers rebuild service for typhoons is $100 more for pre P1000 serial typhoons than the cost of post P1000 models. Is there a significant change in the design or parts spec in the different eras of typhoons? Does P1000 imply 1000 guns made, or did they start the number with (10) and 00 is the first model?

Is there a list of possible changes in build to typhoons somewhere? I am unable to locate it on their website and while it won't dissuade me from a good purchase, I am still curious.

I believe that post P1000 the platform became fairly standardized.

From what I've been able to tell, up til then PPS brass semis underwent a number of changes in regards to their LPR construction and internal plumbing, so the extra cost is likely factoring in the fact that they don't know what's in there until it's torn down.

I have seen as low as a #57 serial number and currently own #187 Hurricane.

Ahh that makes sense. Palmers has a typhoon on their site store that's P100 and it's got everything I want, single trigger, 11" barrel, widgets, right feed, vert bottle. Haven't heard back from them, anyone know their email turnaround?

Palmers is a bit backed up, I think. As far as I know it's just Craig due to Covid so it might be a week before you get a reply.

The best and fastest way to contact Palmers is by phone. Emails can be a little slow right now due to the Covid.
I do believe the extra cost on the rebuild is updating the earlier versions to new specs.

From what I understand, early typhoons are kind of all over the place. I have a very early typhoon (I think in the 200s) and the typhoon rebuild kit was missing a few things I needed. and some of the o-rings felt a bit off. I actually still haven't been able to get it working. But I already overpaid for the typhoon, I cant spend 300 bucks to send it in for a rebuild.
