    Spyder victor pump mod

So.... Someone posted a pic of a Spyder victor with a pump mod on it.

    I want it.

I know it's not good, but I want it anyway. It is easy to get for less than $100.

People, talk me into, or out of it.

Apparently the hammer is 3D printed, so a) I wouldn't expect it to last long; and b) expect to have a very heavy pump stroke since the main spring would be turned way up to compensate for the presumably very light hammer. You could maybe replace it with an Azodin KP hammer.

Actually you usuallynhave to tune them down after removing the blowback. Maybe this actually works with the light hammer and regular springs. I had to drop mine to sub 400 psi just to get down to 280.

Hey! Creator of the kit here. The pump stroke is actually very smooth. Can very easily pump it with my fingers. I haven't shot one personally so I can't confirm this, but I've heard from someone that it feels very similar to a KP3. I'll try finding a KP3 at my field to shoot and see how it feels in comparison. I made a post in this thread I recommend checking out. Addresses some concerns and some other stuff.

I’ve done this in the past by unlinking the hammer from the bolt. The hammer still functions like normal, but you have to pump the bolt to load balls in.

im sure there are nicer ways to do it but I just had a hacksawed piece of pvc pipe around the barrel and linked to the bolt.

Nope someone called mine the "Sni-con" and I'm running with it. Spump always sounded weird to me.

I saw this kit and I had a couple concerns. Maybe if the guy shows some chrono data, I'd be more on board. I've done so many things to mine to get it working the way it does now, and it's damn smooth. I basically did a lot of the old OtterSC Spyder mods for low pressure. I also did my bolt and hammer different than everyone else. I have a link in my signature to the project.

You don't really need a kit. You need a cheap 11/16 valve, like one from a Trilogy. You need to remove the one pin in the body by the valve so it goes where it needs to. Then you need a pump handle and a way to attach it to the bolt. If you have an Imagine body or similar with the window cutout for the bolt, this makes it way easier. You can bend a 3/16 rod and drill the bolt for the rod, then tap thw other end to 10-32. Then you need to disconnect the hammer from the bolt. This is usually done by cutting a slot in the hammer so the bolt drags the hammer back, but then can freely move forward to a closed bolt position.

Maybe I'll make an actual write up for this.

Someone else made a spump here for basically nothing. Mine was a bit more expensive because I went with a Trilogy pump kit, a reg, and a bunch of other unnecessary but cool and functional parts. Basically, you don't need a kit. There's lots of ways to do it.

Brother we were worried about chrono speed in the wrong direction

It was shooting ~270-280 pretty consistently, had one hot shot at 298.

RVA backed all the way out, ~650psi HPA bottle, shooting Valken Graffiti (684ish) out of the stock barrel with an electrical tape wedgit.

Once I get my deadlywinds adapter and a properly sized insert on it it will probably need a spring swap or an HPR to stay under 300

For what it’s worth, it doesn’t have the traditional farty spump sound, and I’m not sure why

I have two azodins and they are too clean and factory made to scratch the spump itch

I got the kit and a refurbished purple victor on the way.

I’ll provide some crappy yellow chrono readings.

Also noticed that this guy makes a compatible tipx magfed adapter for the victor

Apparently. The guy making the kits has a video of it shooting. It doesn't even sound farty. I'm just curious about chrono numbers myself.

I ordered a kit and bought an old Victor off of shopgoodwill.com for next to nothing. Once I get it together and get it running I'll post about it.

My first thought when looking at the kit was to wonder if it would be feasible to replace the valve stem with one that wasn't fluted (such as one designed for a cocker or sniper) to reduce the amount of blowback gas escaping from the valve.

Now, if an 11/16ths cocker valve will fit as JeeperCreeper mentions, that brings up some interesting prospects. I happen to have such a valve laying around since I recently put a Lazarus in my Trilogy. Just need to replace the cup seal, which I managed to utterly destroy in the process of getting the old valve out.

You just have to either remove the body pin, or notch the valve to fit, but mine runs good with the Trilogy valve.

I have a kit and an Ebay aggressor with Trinity rifled barrel on the way.
Would love to see someone confirm the Lazarus valve fitting.
        I
have had luck with a 3d printed striker, and lighter valve springs, the sear eating the striker is the issue,
I'll be grabbing an azodin or slotting the stock one.

Hey! I'm the creator of this kit. I appreciate you mentioning the striker issue. Could you send me some pictures of the striker being damaged? I'll try finding ways to reinforce it to not have that happen.

Hi, I have not received your kit yet. I have printed strikers in the past and that was my primary issue. They would last 50-150 shots before needing to be replaced.

This forum has provided some very good concerns that I will provide what I hope to be a good answer to them in the form of a video. Noticed some people addressing a potential velocity conern. Next time I'm at the field I'll provide a video at the chrono station to hopefully clear up said concerns. I also noticed DieManInTheRough talking about a potential reliability concern regarding the striker that I will fix and send out in the kits going forward, as well as a free replacement to those who's striker has worn out. If you guys have any further questions or concerns please let me know.

I have NOT received this kit yet, Unsure if your design has this issue. I have printed spyder strikers in the past and that was MY issue. Could have been design flaw or print flaws.

It chronos fine, actually faster than the stock. I l may have to put in a softer spring.

And tbh if you are gonna use this regularly, get an azodin kaos pump hammer, it’s a drop in replacement.

The issue I see starting is that the flex in the 3d printed part connecting the pump rod to the bolt is enough to occasionally not cock the hammer. Not an issue if you remember to manhandle the pump stroke back, so I think softer mainspring will fix this issue.

By the way, thanks for the stock class cram and jam adapter. I assumed it was a freebie and hope it wasn't an order mix-up.
