I figured the rtp section is too dead, so rather than getting this project complete, THEN sharing. I figured I'd start a build thread like the many in the sheridan section. Maybe itll get you guys to knock some dust off of your rtp beauties and make something with em.
Long story short, I got this beautiful RTP rifle project from loophole. I have me walz near complete, so Im eyeing the simpler tasks on this one to fill time.
This is a 22" barreled side feed stainless rifle with a .678 bored barrel. And a full length bead rail.
things I know I need to do; listed from easiest to most difficult.
tap the rear cap for mounting screws
Add an rva (optional)
Thad adapter and feed plug design
Stock to be made
Bolt to be made.
I also noticed the solder between the barrel and the bead rail has failed. Im going to attempt to get at least part of it re attached. But Im leary. The brass/ and thin walled feed tube are going to pose a challenge. That'll be one of the last things I try, as It should work as is. All solder joints are strong where the lower tube meets the rest. I just feel the barrel being able to lash will make the solder joint continue to crack in time. So I should address it. This bit may be something I send out to fix.
I also wonder what happened to the original parts? I can't imagine this one never got finished, but it seems strange Im missing the bolt especially as that is would have been one of a kind. But oh well. The fun is the journey, not the destination.
