What to use to refinish a Ole kp3 stock

Thanks to JeeperCreeper my kp3 is back to working again. Now I have a itch to refinish the stock as it's faded and has some marks. Hownwere these done from sheridan? Ive been told in the past tonjust rub linseed oil on it and be done.

pretty sure they just seal the wood and use a tinted coating. if you sand them down the finish is just superficial.

there's been a lot of mixed results on airgun forums refinishing old crosman/sheridan/benjamin stocks. i'd check there for best information.

I just re oiled my walz. I started with Murphys wood oil soap and washed as much gunk out of the grain as I could. Then I simply wiped many coats of boiled linseed oil into, and off the stock.

Iirc walz recommend that cut the oil used on the first few coats with thinner. To make a better finish.

I pick my wood finishes, depending what environment it will be living in.

Epoxies and urethanes give a long lasting finish, second-to-none. Great for wall-hangers and people who actually take care of their stuff.

I beat my wood so the finishes just end up cracking and getting moisure trapped under the surface. So i usually use a wax or just let the gun oil bleed into the wood

Front: hydraulic oil on raw cedar
        middle: wax on raw mahogany
rear: wax and urethane on beech
