K Stocks Question - Need help.

    Hello All,

I have an albatross of a project that I am stuck on and have had issues with for a number of years. I originally bought one of those K stocks with the long forearm from a member on MCB 2.0 way back when they were custom duplicated. That stock was "lost" when I sent it off to be channeled out for the brass. I am currently carving out a new K stock from walnut based on Sheridan stock's shape with the long forearm. I want to have this stock duplicated at least ten times when I am done. Does anyone recommend a reliable service? I am just looking for a roughed out copy with NO channeling for the brass. I will do the rest of the work.

    Best,

That seems like kind of a round-about way to get to a final product. Why wouldn't you want the channel cut?
If you can find someone reliable (meaning I'd get the stock back) I'd be willing to lend one of my Sheridan K stocks out for duplicating purposes. Again, reliable would be the operative word - like an actual shop that does business and has a professional reputation to uphold and not just a dude with tools in a garage.

      Hello!!

Reliable is the issue to be honest. Most of my suppliers and contacts are in the grave or no longer in the business. I am sort of starting over in a sense. But as soon as I can get these built, and built right, I am out. Hence why I refer to this as my albatross...

As for the bedding cut out, the duplicator can't properly copy it. It would have to do corrective milling. It is easier and cheaper to mill out AFTER the duplication.

If I can solve this stock issue, I just some minor machining completed and I can do the final assembly.

Depending on where your located, hardwood lumber shops usually have a replicator.
some can do all including the channel cut and inletting for trigger group..
when I lived in California two shop in Fresno had these setups and it was pretty cheap to do multiples as the major cost is in the first one..
up here in Idaho I have not found locally.
