Coming back to the game after 15+ years, have an impulse board question

I have been out of the game since ~2003.

I have an Impulse from back then. I know the feed neck threads are stripped. I figured it was probably the right time to just buy a new body that accepts the vision boards because they are about as cheap as fixing the feed neck would be.

My question is about boards and them being tournament legal. I have seen some people saying the cricket board can't be used in tournaments. Is this true? are the upgraded boards really worth ~3x the amount of money they seem to cost?

It depends, there are a few uncapped semi tournaments, but they are all regional and local affairs. The only national leagues run a 10.5 bps cap for the NXL or a 5.5 BPS cap for the ICPL both allow ramping, the ICPL also allows mechanical markers which can shoot over 5.5 bps.

If I were you I would buy a Sci-fi board, because though they are a bit more expensive settings can easily be changed via bluetooth, I find I end up changing settings on my Shoeboxes way more often than I used to because lots of events have differing restrictions and now even dealing with renters there is an expectation to have less of a fire rate then there used to be. https://www.scifi-paintball.com/blan...f-impulse-v1-0

If you are into DIY then the Morlock board http://northarc.com/morlock/#products is also an option and you can even modify yourself an o-led screen in there if you want, and get all of your modes at a low price, I am a huge fan of the board

Still nothing wrong with your cricket board if you don't intend on going to tournaments

Most of the tournaments these days are 10.5 ramping, so if the cricket board doesn't have that level of adjustability then it's probably not allowed.

Blind cricket board 13 bps max

        Vision cricket board 20 bps

So I don't think they would be allowed.
