Ion/XE vs eNMEy/eNVy/eXTCy firing can diameters?

I’ve got a project to gather some parts for and was wondering if there is a difference between the outside diameters of different iterations of the Ion firing cans. I watched ANSgear’s teardown of the eXTCy and it looked like it might have a smaller diameter than the Ion.

anyone have both that could compare? I only have an OG Ion.

I'll measure when I get home. Unless someone beats me to it. It's like an 1/8" difference if I recall correctly

BOB cans like the XE are slightly larger than the OG Ion firing cans.... I think around .100, or the 1/8" that JeeperCreeper mentioned.

I don't know if that carried over to the eNMey/xTCy line.

Pretty sure the only difference for those was the cut out breech section for their new style detents and eyes. Other than that it's the same back cap and internals

Original Ions are 1.215
Bolt out back cans are 1.245

Hmmmm, so it looks like OG ions are smaller. That’s all I needed to know, thanks JeeperCreeper!

I’ll start gathering materials for my build. I already have n ion to donate, but purchased a “for parts” eXTCy just in case. That’ll be another project 😉

Og ion cans fit in 30mm scope mounts well. I built a double barrel mech sp1 by mounting an og ion at 45* in a set of scope mounts on the rear pic rail. It was a fun build!
