    STP barrel options?

I'm trying to find a barrel that will take smaller paint. I get rollouts with the stock barrel and an All American one I have, and it appears both of my freak backs OD is too wide for the pump handle.

What's out there for better paint to bore matching?

    Black vinyl electrical tape.

I use Freedummy wedgits but those aren’t available anymore so use tape.

Not much for the old ones. Raptor threads are close enough to work, and PPS briefly made barrels.

And sadly Raptor barrels are too thin to freak bore.

      I recommend fingernail polish.

FYI mine appears to be Spyder threaded, so I'm guessing it's not an older one. However it doesn't have the cuts in the body I see the newer ones have. Since freaks don't fit in the pump handle, I was hoping there was some other barrel kit that came in Spyder threads that would fit.

The standard Spyder freak barrel fit them.

I'm not sure what Freak back I have, one has "windows" the other has the word FREAK cut out. Neither of them fit the pump handle however.

If you get a new production pump handle it is large enough to accommodate a freak barrel back.
What is the inner width of your pump handle?

I'm waiting on a long overdue set of calipers and I'll let you know.

Made some for myself, ended up with a lot of extra. laser cut Mylar, approx .010” thick. Maybe similar to the freedummy detents? But made of a continuous piece, constant thickness. Wedged between AC body and barrel. I find they really shine when slightly over bored with bad paint. If you have oval paintballs, under boring

Just an idea. Can the pump handle be milled to accept a thicker barrel?

Possibly? I'm not sure what it's made out of, glass reinforced nylon? Either way there's not a lot of "meat" at the top to work with.

Might be able to turn the handle into an undercooking kit.

If it’s an STP it will take the Spyder freak barrels with no mods.

Doc has some on eBay that may work for yah. Shoot him a message have him measure the OD. But I be this will work.

You want one that has smooth consistent size OD so the over the barrel handle slides smooth. I’m pretty sure it a 1” OD stock barrel.

Get your stock barrel freak bored so it retains its classic look.

This is the second best option to nail polish/tape. It won’t be easy to find a barrel to replace the stock one perfectly since it’s very large OD is designed to hold the pump rod bushing retainer in place.

The barrel didn’t hold any bushing in place just need to find one with the right outside diameter. The one I have works perfectly.

You can bore a stock STP barrel Pb shop offers the option with a new purchase. I bet you could order one separately. Or have BMC do your stock one as long as it’s the newer STP spyder threaded barrels they can be done. I found the stock barrel to be too short for my liking. I use the barrel tip to aim and you can’t see it with the handle behind the marker with the stock one.

This is the one I use that works 100% perfectly. But any 1” round barrel that’s Spyder threads will fit the stock handle.

My barrel is .9975” and the handle is 1.1297” a true 1” barrel will fit perfectly and have a slight overbore to slide nicely. My handle basically rides on a the flared half inch section over the barrel tip back and freak back front section. It’s smoother than the stock because it’s got less drag and zero wobble.

I bet that Doc back I posted will work nicely. I bet that will be even smoother with the polished finish. Mines more of a slight dust. I would have purchased the Doc back if it was available at the time. Shoot him an email. See what the OD is on it.

It looks like OP has an older Arrow/Lada Sterling, with the longer threads that reach all the way back to the bolt face.

I never thought of the wide barrel pinching the pump rod bushing as a "feature". I trimmed the bushing on mine so the barrel could seat square against the body, so I'm just relying on that frame screw. Might need to go to a machined frame rail.

On mine it’s entirely held in place by the front thumb screw from the bottom. I’m not sure how the oilers ones are. My other Sterling was a newer STP same as this one. The one I had before that was the older proprietary threads you didn’t have any options for. It was beautiful but paint got too small for it to use, and without barrel options it wasn’t fun to use. I absolutely love my new one. It’s CCM smooth…

Thanks everyone. I think I'll measure the OD of my stock barrel and look into getting Docs Flashback. If that falls through I'll see about boring the stock barrel as it does look the best.

I do like the idea of a new style pump handle, are they sold by themselves anywhere? FYI here is a picture of the sterling on question.

Is your All American barrel a glued one? You may need to get a new style front for the Doc back.

It is glued, but I have several freak fronts I'm hoping will work.
