Since failing mags and 68 Special conversions probably limited how much use these got, I'm curious what the next failure would be. My bet would be on the receiver cracking at the breech, all that removed material to fit the 68 round makes me uncomfortable..

Started putting things back together yesterday and brought it into the backyard for some test shots. After two clips went through no problem, the clips started getting stuck in the adapter. Took it apart only to find that the tiny tiny hinge for the pawl in the adapter had sheared into three pieces! Definitely not a failure I was expecting to happen.

As in the dowel that goes through the pawl?

Yup that's the one. I got a stainless steel rod from McMaster Carr that I cut into a replacement and it's worked fine so far, but haven't had many chances to bust the gun out recently.

Not to necropost but I've been shopping around for shops to get an adapter made. Most of the places I've used for motorcycle parts don't seem to want to touch it. However https://jlccnc.com quoted me $70 shipped for the adapter in aluminum, stainless is $105 shipped, 45# carbon steel is $80 shipped. I'm on the fence about the 45# carbon steel alloy as an option.

Definitely not aluminum. Carbon steel sounds like the move. The hammer tube is some kind of non stainless steel anyways so it fits the theme
