    98 Custom Cocking Issues

Buddy just bought a 98c and is running into some strange cocking issues. I'm not entirely familiar with these things, but it does have the ACT kit and response trigger. He had tested with an old HPA tank that I have no idea what the output pressure is (it has since blown a disc) however it wouldnt the bolt wouldnt clear the breach. I fired it up on my Ninja V2 SLP tank (stock so it should be ~750-850) and it fires full auto once you pull the trigger.

I would assume this means the sear is not catching the hammer properly and upon inspection, the hammer and sear look decent and the return spring has plenty of snap.

Looking for any help on this one!

If you shooting with your ninja SLP your only giving it 350psi.
thats too low for a tippmann.

Well balls, just re-reading things now realizing the SLP is not adjustable.

      98s need ~800?

Well they are adjustable. Just wont get any higher. Probably would just use a standard output reg. 800-850

So I just slapped on a 3000 psi steelie and it cycles without a problem however the bolt ACT bolt tip doesnt fully clear the breach so the ball wont drop.

I do not think that spring behind the bolt is part of that gun.

I do not think it an act version.

A.C.T is behind the hammer and back plate.
leave that spring out of that gun, it causing more trouble than good.

Ah that a techt super bolt. Care to put a stock bolt and report back?

Swapped in stock bolt and took out the TechT, works like a charm!

what a weird upgrade, i had never heard of that techt aftermarket anti-chop bolt. i thought it was some homebrew half-baked idea when i saw the pic.

Same! Didn’t think of that ‘kit’ when I heard ACT.

IIRC it came out within the last year. It is based on half-baked/never really functional mods people were doing.

I had the exact same problem with a Tech T Superbolt I acquired last year. They are awful and vastly inferior to the stock tippmann bolt.
