I need some Pro-Carbine tips

I recently impulse-bought one, it's pretty neat but needs a couple changes to make it worth using for me.

Firstly, what are my options (if any) for mounting an aftermarket ASA? I'm not compatible with the ergonomics of the stock downward angled ASA, but I'm worried that the stock one is the only thing that will fit in the weird shaped hole in the grip frame.

Second, what if any aftermarket barrels fit in the stock barrel shroud? I know it accepts A5 threaded barrels, but they need to be the correct diameter to fit in the plastic front end without a lot of slop. Even a modern stock Tippmann barrel would probably be better than the imported tooob on there now, would a stock A5 barrel or a 98 barrel with an adapter work?

J&J ceramic 1 piece typically works in a lot of situations like yours, they are pretty slim

Worst case you need to reem out the plastic a bit.

Most of the barrels that I've found fit the shroud just fine. I have a bunch of A5/procarb threaded barrels kicking around. When we meet up to exchange stuff I can bring you a few.

The Procarb should come with a .45 frame with bottomline. If you're talking about a moulded plastic frame with finger grooves and the airline as the trigger guard you have a Prolite (or maybe a Procarb with a Prolite frame?). There are aftermarket .45 frames available so you can use whatever ASA. There are also VASA kits. If worst comes to worst you can use a CO2 tank with buttpad and that is much more comfortable than a flat bottomed tank.

For barrels, the 12" J&J is a perfect fit for the shroud. Anything longer will have the thinner part of the barrel line up at the end of the shroud and it will wobble. I also bought a LAPCO Bigshot that actually had a raised ring turned into the barrel at the correct length for the end of the shroud to rest on. I'm not sure that all their Bigshot barrels for the A5 have this feature so you should try to confirm before buying. You're more likely to find that older barrel brands fit since they would have been made at a time when fitting the shroud would have been in mind. Nowadays they're made for the A5 so the OD doesn't really matter. Also, I think 98 barrels would be too thick.

I highly recommend a spring kit, you can find them for $5 on several websites. It seems like there is no rhyme or reason to my velocity on my Pro-lite/carbine/etc. So I keep one of the kits with me and swap them out when needed.

I know Pro-team Products still sells barrels for them. My Prolite has a 16" Stealth on it and I love it. The J&J ceramic is prob my favorite barrel of all time, but the Stealth on the Pro-lite I prefer much more.

The ASA is a standard two hole pattern. The grip frame is not flat on the bottom, it has a semicircular cutout that the top half of the ASA sits inside. I'm not describing it very well, I can send a pic of you want.

I'm not sure all Pro-Carbines have the same style frame. Either Tippmann changed it at some point or people were swapping frames from other guns.

PIcs? I've never seen this. Are you saying the mating portion of the ASA is round? Ive never had a problem putting any aftermarket asa's on a PC.

You mentioned the barrel was an imported tooob? Is it not stock? The stock barrels are made in the USA, not that its an important detail. But polish the bore of the barrel with some turtle wax, and a dowel with some wadded tshirt and a power drill, and its as good as any fixed bore barrel on the market. J&J, lapco, and dye all fit if your looking for something a bit longer. One point of note, while a5 and tipx barrels are threaded the same, the are not chamfered in the breech end of the bore for the bolt to enter. This only matters on tight bore barrels, so if you stay over .685 you wont see any problem. With a tighter bore you may get some bolt stick.

Sure thing, I'll PM you some pics of what I have. I only have one A5 threaded gun and I generally use a Freak on it
