    Tippmann A5 Body Screws?!

I need to replace some body screws on my A5. I know they are 10-32 x 5/8" screws. I bought a few off Amazon, but they were all about a 1/32-1/16 too short and wouldn't catch the nut.

Does anyone know where to get replacement screws? Ones that aren't 'Tippmann' brand at a dollar each! (I'm rebuilding a bunch of A5's, so hoping to buy a decent amount)

I'd just go to mcmaster. Be careful, older tippmanns are 10/24. Newer ones are 10/32. You can always buy new nuts also if you aren't sure what they are.

You also want low profile socket heads.

I think 5/8" is valid for the 6x shorty ones.

Initially I figured your issue was due to how they determine screw length depending on the screw type, but socket heads in both fashions are measured from the shoulder. Something like a flat head screw is measured from the head top, so I'm wrong there.

The other thing is,measure the amazon hardware you got. Is it really 5/8"? maybe you got something between 1/2, and a true 5/8?

Older Tippmanns are not 10-24 unless someone has done a sloppy repair job. It's all 10-32 unless someone messed up yours.

Which ones are 10-24? I never encountered that in any clamshell guns

That's not the norm as far as I know.... My three digit serial number one is 10-32

Did you buy it new? Maybe someone swapped the hardware if it was used? Would be sort of interesting to know if something Tippmann left the factory without 10-32 because I’ve been working on their old stuff forever and haven’t encountered it myself, and I just assumed at this point they didn’t even know other threads even existed 😁

Buy it new? Ha that's not something I've ever done much of. Nah that a5 was a pawn shop purchase.

If you have a local hardware store I'd try that. I've had pretty good luck doing it that way. Bring a few known good ones with you and then you can compare there

Keep in mind Tippmann uses a strange head type....

      Low profile socket head screws....

Thanks all - I ordered them from McMaster. I called them and they said the threads should be an actual 5/8" in length. The Amazon ones I ordered were all labeled as 5/8", but again, they all fell short... fingers crossed these will work!

Did you actually measure anything? Or just going off of a called out spec?

OK, so the screws I ordered at 5/8" aren't a full 5/8". The original Tippmann screws are slightly OVER 5/8" (basically 11/16"). Also, the new screw is 3/32" drive vs the 1/8" for Tippmann. The arrow in the pics is pointing to the 5/8" mark.

At this point, not to sure which way to go at this point?! Thoughts?

Go the next size up and trim? Or buy Tippmann OEM stuff?

Also worth mentioning some industry trade screws go off entire length of bolt not length of threads
