    Mech FEED tournament

I’d love to see a mech feed league. aka gravity or spring feed only. I’d say allow electronic guns but with eyes off and semi auto only to level the playing field (Lots people like there electros so run what ya brung but don’t see them having any advantage with these rules. Mag fed would allow for higher rates of fire but far less capacity, no batteries eliminates the box mags. Pumps could compete with the semis because the hoppers would be great equalizers.

I think it create a interesting dynamic change and encourage new strategy or rather relearning older strategy. I’d guess we’d see lots of things tried like big stick feeds/spring feeds. Mag fed on a speedball field and of course a sea of Proto Primo’s. Id guess you’d see a resurgence of blowbacks for The simplicity of there shot to shot natural agitation. And things like high rise feed necks make a come back.

The real hiccup I see to this is stuff like the cyclone feeds and Q-loader (are there any of those still working out there). But I’m sure there’s a way to mitigate this “advantage”. Perhaps just simply not allowing these or limiting these feeds to mech only shooters and NO RTs.

The PBSL(Paintball Skills League) in California has a really fun tournament series and seasons their pump league is you can carry as much paint as you want, the only exception is that your hopper has to be a 50 round or below and you can only load via 10 round tubes, they've had a few 'mech' tourneys before and have done something but limited the paint to 2 pods plus your hopper of paint per person they had a really fun 10 man they've done where 7 players were pump and 3 were mech

      I like this idea.

I've always wanted to try playing a 'tournament' (even one that's just for clout/fun), but didn't want to deal with the face mowing that come with electro and mech tourneys. I thought about pump tournaments but that's not the largest crowd to draw from in my area.

Personally, I'd just go with Gravity feed if the point of this is to limit bps. Gravity feed works well because it is either something that they already own, or can buy at any field, proshop or Walmart. It also doesn't require them to purchase a 'big ticket' item like a new gun to compete. Puts everyone on a level playing field.

We used to run a tournament in Utah call the Shake n Bake. Any gun you want, any mode you want, gravity feed only. I reffed the first year we allowed Primos, which worked really well for poppit valve guns. We did not allow A5s or X7s,, anything with a cyclone really, unless they were mech only. An RT or egrip paired with a cyclone would be an unfair advantage.

It was gun watching people struggle in the first couple games. It would usually take them a minute to understand why their guns weren't shooting. I was never able to actually play it, but the community loved it. It was a lot more laid back than the other local tournaments. Only reason we stopped was because the field we were using closed.
