Mr B - all great points.

I'm referring to PE specifically when I'm talking mech spools... and specifically, the Gmek and Emek, along with their other mech'ed spool markers.

Just to comment on your "spoiled brat" comment - would he have ruined your day as effectively by using a different marker?
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Re: rich brats with electros in the early days of electros
No, I very much doubt he would have. Rates of fire were lower in the mech-only days, and when playing mechanical semi-auto it was pretty difficult to accidentally overshoot someone by more than two or three balls. In fact, the woodsball group I played with had a 3+ ball overshooting rule: You hit someone with more than three balls and you're both eliminated. That was pretty reasonable when each shot required effort and intentionality on the shooter's part. The problem with full auto electros wasn't just the rate of fire, it was that they inverted the overshooting situation. It required a very quick reaction by the shooter to avoid overshooting. A sloppy or lazy shooter would end up hosing the target.

I have no problem with the shocker as a marker it is more about the turbo as it was called then ramping as we call it now brought ROF to a level that I find Unenjoyable to be on the receiving end, of and some people just don't know when to let up to let a hit player out. I know that is not the markers fault but it's easy to get carried away when you have that kind of firepower. Sorry I derailed this thread with the shocker comment.

It wouldn't be a thread on MCB if it didn't get derailed once in a while.

For me I would like to put some towards AGD, and some toward RPS to try to get back to better paint. We pay a lot of money to play only to have it ruined by a day of crap paint, shoot for a line of paint with the old advantage shell at a size around .689.

An AGD with the capital to do large production runs and take advantage of economies of scale in order to offer mags at attractive prices for new converts to mech play would be a beautiful thing.

Second RPS, specifically american made RPS paint with advantage shell. Ahhh circa 2005-6 marbs, friggen gold.

Also MontNeel. We all know liquid CO2 is the pinnacle of paintball technology. I mean c'mon HPA is just a fad.

3rd RPS. Just having good consistent paint would revive pump and stock class paintball in a big way. I see people wanting to play a slower rof game like mech but the paint doesn't shoot straight enough to go all the way down to pump and limit yourself to one good shot. Kind of have to shoot 3-4 rounds to have one go straight.

While they aren't gone, I'd bring Nelson Anarchy Upheaval back to every field. That stuff was awesome.

Fields would have a Prime-like membership. They are not charged for shipping. Deliveries are guaranteed 2 day or less up to like 12 cases or something.

I've noticed that some of the old timers on Reddit express jealously whenever I mention that my local field is a Nelson distributor, so the field paints are Precision for the low grade and Ranger (a/k/a Special Forces) for the good stuff. I always get the Ranger. Size is nice and consistently at or close to the old .688 standard and it is never dimpled, though it looks a oblate around the seam to my eye. I sometimes supplement it by ordering a case of Defy from ANS, which is smaller and a little tough but appears to be more consistently spherical.

I wish I had a few million to inject into AGD and get them on much more solid footing. I'd love to have a legacy line of splash ano parts kits for the original Automag, Minimag, RT Classic and RT Pro in the same vintage ano patterns as in the 90's, with the addition of other custom color options. I'd love to also offer a variety of custom rails, including remakes of past out of production rails like the Omega rail and Eclipse rail, as well as some of my own design. Ideally we would do our own machining inhouse.

In addition to the Automag 'legacy line', I'd reestablish a modern custom Automag line, partnering with several of the custom makers in the mag community to offer their best products under one roof, with increased availability and custom anodizing options. These mags would be built around the X-valve of course. I'd also develop a aluminum version of the stainless steel Automag valve, something I've always personally wanted, since I really appreciate the simplicity of the classic valve design. Also, offering a factory production 'pneumag' would be a great addition to the Automag line as well.

I'd want AGD to be the best version of a well funded and respected 'niche company' that it could be. If people are still willing to sink $1000+ into new production cockers, a design that's also around thirty years old like the Automag, then it would be great if the mag community had that kind of support from a much invigorated AGD. It's a pipe dream I know. I'm actually very thankful that the current incarnation of AGD is able to get us new production parts to keep our old warhorses up an running, even if they can only get parts made in small batches.

This is precisely the answer I wish I had taken the time to write. Would not change a single word.
