    Time for a new gun?

    My old guns have been sitting in the basement in their cases for too long, and I am selling (most of) them. Kinda hurts to watch some of them go, but they are going to people on this forum, so I guess I'm keeping them in the family. The distant family, but people with whom I share a bond.

    So now what do I do?
    Well, I am keeping the WGP Sniper III, so I'll have at least one old gun. I'll also keep the Tiger Shark and Stingray because the amuse the heck out of me. But now, I need something new. I have not bought a NEW gun in decades! So I figure, why not get something fun? Not some electro-whiz-bang gun run by my phone. A nice reliable. low maintenance, mech semi "Fun Gun" for walk-on play.

    I have it mostly narrowed down to the GoG ENMEY or Tippmann FT-12. Something simple, rugged, reliable, and reasonable accurate.

    I love the GoG's mechanics and cool plastic body
    I also respect the Tippmann's ruggedness, and the TF-12's easy-maintenance design.

    What do ya'll think? Maybe you have something else in mind in that price range (where if I do manage to break it - because I'm clumsy - I won't be out a lot of cash).

    The FT-12 is just a less ergonomic 98c which is saying something haha.

    I'd go with the Enemy because it will actually shoot well and it's cheap enough you can do dumb mods to them and not really care.

    Here comes the tomatoes from everyone else, but the Emek IMO has a much nicer trigger than the Enemy and has a lot more support in terms of neat aftermarket stuff.

      Enemy is a decent shooter, but its also essentially a mechd ion. On that note mech ions are also fun to shoot.

      If you want my opinion, snag to a SP CVO. Its a tooless, light weight mech with arguably the nicest mech trigger in the game. I have a mechd rsx and its killer I cant imaging the cvo isnt nicer yet.

      Both of which are well tooled enemys in a way.

      If you wanna have fun, look up the tippman raider. That was honestly the last mech I was excited enough to buy new, but it failed, and never had a production release. You may be able to catch a unicorn on ebay.

        They do, but a used cvo can be had for like 450 ish, and that would be worth the money honestly. Imo, you will really a gun that shoots like a new gun. Lile mebtioned above, the enmy will work well, but feels like a cheap gun.

        2nd this one. The CVO is a fantastic deal used. Pretty much exactly the same price as an upgraded Emek and 50% less than an M170r

      Second the Enmey, one of my boys has one and that thing just shoots and shoots. If your looking for the best bang for your buck

        The FT-12 wouldn't be my choice between your two options. The feedneck can get wobbly on them after time and I have heard of the "flip top" actually breaking in the middle under pressure. My son worked at a local field for two years and the FT-12 was their rental fleet. He didn't experience any major malfunctions not attributed to user error though.

          See... that's good input. None of the reviews mention the wobbly neck thing. And I am leaning towards the GoG. The Tippy is most likely a tank.

          I still have some old guns that I tinker with. I just have a hankering for that new gun smell. I guess it happens every few decades.

            If your just looking for a cheap fun gun don’t discount the Azodins. Lots of fun to be had with them. I got my Azodin KPII pump years ago. It’s been a lot of fun and a good shooter. So m much so I picked up a KDII blowback to tinker with more recently.

            I prefer the looks feel and trigger of the Azodin than the first Gen eNMEy I have.

            The eNMEy is a better performer hands down. But tends to feel cheap and I find the trigger feels rather spongy. It’s a composite marker but it’s more feels like little tykes plastic honestly. Cheap and flexy. The design and engine are awesome. But they just missed the mark in my opinion by cheating out too much on the materials used.

              If it's in your price range, definitely look at the Emek. Personally I think they absolutely blow the eNMEy out of the water in every way. Bone stock, the Emek is an incredible shooter and tons of fun.

                An azodin KD-III might be a good choice. They made a great decision to include their single trigger frame with this latest model

                these guns run at a low pressure too

                  Is an Azodine better than a similarly priced Spyder?

                  I'm not a big Spyder fan. The last STBB I really liked was... VM-68. But I know Spyders and their clones have come a long way.

                  How are the Spyders for quallity?

                  One thing I do like about both the eNMEy and the FT-12 is that the only exposed moving part is the trigger and they have internal pneumatics (no exposed tubes).

                    The Azodins from most accounts are essentially the most refined and some of the best STBB’s. Better than most the spyder stuff. But I am honestly far from a expert on the subject as the KDII I got is my first STBB and I only got it about a month ago, and due to covid have yet to see the field with it. I ran auto mags Nelson pumps and inline tippmanns MOSTLY for the past 20 years (still do).

                    The Azodin KPII is a pump gun similar to a sniper. I have had mine for years. And it’s been awesome to me. Shoots great and has been very reliable. Their new pumps the KP3 and the KPC+ look even better but mines been essentially upgraded to be a KPC+ now.

                    I see more Azodins at the field than new Spyders. I don't own one, but any time I read about them people say they're basically what Spyders should've become. Supposedly their Zero spring/valve setup is a huge difference-maker. I also know several people with KP3s (their pump model) and they like them.

                  simple, rugged, reliable, and accurate.

                  Try an Emek. It is really good.

                  I like the ergonomics better than the Enmey and think the firing cycle is more crisp.
                  Plus they are super reliable and simple to service.

                    Ft12's.....

                    Avoid like the plague.... Least robust Tippmann I've ever seen. Local field rented them and would get about 3 months out of them before the body showed signs of cracking

                        The ft12 has issues with the actual body bending over time. Seriously, the metal that tippman uses is such crap that the top plate will warp over time and bend up. That's why a lot of fields that use them as rentals will tape/strap the top of those markers. They warp and the top plate won't latch closed

                        Besides that they are just as cheap as tippman can make them and not comfortable or exciting in any way if you ask me.

                        The enmy is a product of the gardener brothers (smart parts 2.0) so that's one of the major reasons I won't touch it (new) but besides that, there is just way too much plastic in those for me to have any faith in. The on/off switches and banjo bolts are the weak points

                        Other options

                        Anything from azodin, these are great markers if you ask me. They are what everyone always wanted a spyder to be. A very simple design that uses industry standard fittings (cocker barrels even) and had a lot of features right out of the box

                        If you have never owned a automag I say give it a whirl. I have vastly enjoyed mine and if you really want something with little to no maintenance you really can't get better than an automag. I'm pretty sure mine sat on a shelf for close to a decade before I bought it, put oil in it and it shot like a champ. The other thing to consider is since you won't be buying a new one, if you end up not liking the mag chances are you can sell it for what you bought it for

                        Emek, I have not owned one but I've only heard good things

                        Those are really the 3 things I would look into if I were in your shoes

                          I picked up two brand new paintguns in the last two years- an Empire Resurrection and PE Emek. Both are fantastic. I don't recall ever acclimating myself to a paintgun as quickly as I did with the Resurrection. It just feels really good in the hands, shoots well, and comes with it's own barrel kit (big plus for me, I didn't have one). The Emek is something you can just air up and go. You can also truly make it your own with 3D printed bodies, grips, back caps, eye covers, etc. They really are incredible for the price.
