I don't know about conventional wisdom or anything, but I find myself putting the same parts on all of my guns. Like, if it uses an LPR, I'm probably going to put a Rock on it. Or I'm going to modify it for a Rock. All of my cockers have/had Rocks, my old Impulse had a Rock, and now I'm trying to figure out how to put a Rock on my B2K4. And it has to be the standard long Rock with a knob. None of that Micro Rock crap.

I really like the CP on/offs. They end up on most of my guns. I like the meaty grip of expansion chambers. So I use those where I don't need a reg. If I do need a reg, it's most likely going to be a CP. Unless it's period incorrect, then I'll use a Stabilizer or one of the ANS Unireg knock-offs. Bottom line female Stabs are deeply underappreciated.

Pumps absolutely must be Cali style with a long loop of steel braid going to the valve. They just don't feel right otherwise. And they have to have an Ammo Box style loader (usually my Brass Eagle). And I add quick disconnects where I can. I try to steer away from macro (though I don't hate it or anything).

Edit: I did think of one, I guess. I prefer Mags over all else. But not the fancy crazy lightweight ULE and custom body variants. I greatly prefer steel bodies and classic valves and level 7s. I've had ULE mags, and they're nice, but they don't look right to me. I always end up selling them. My centerfeed steel mag I've managed to hold onto for coming up on twenty years.

A lot of people here like right feeds, which I'm fine with. The feed doesn't bother me on any gun, really. I'm not picky about that. But don't understand why right feed overcame left feed in popularity. Most people are right handed, which means they're going to favor the right side of the bunker. Left feeds keep the hopper tucked behind the bunker, and frees up your peripheral vision.

That's actually what triggered my curiosity back in the day. I had chopping issues with my very first automag, and the local store owner recommended buying a power feed body. So I did, and I swear it worked. My chopping problems completely disappeared. But anyway, I went from a standard right feed body to a power feed hopper left. I really preferred that setup for a good few years, until I followed the bandwagon to center feed.

I couldn’t begin to explain it in a million years but hopper left not only impairs my visual awareness but I also find it very distracting. I’m sure I could over come this with time but I am an old dog...

The premise of your question is a little skewed. RF did not overcome LF, originally almost everything was RF and most markers were never offered in LF. The best example of main stream "Left Feed" were Automags with a hopper left power feed there were some Autocockers made LF but in miniscule numbers compared to RF. What really happened is Center Feed replaced essentially all of the other feed options.
