The other night I go outside with my kid and wife, small talk with the widowed next door neighbor. I had been blasting a tree in my backyard with my M170R earlier and she asks "was that you shooting earlier? A pellet gun?" I say it's paintball and then she says ooOooh and brings out a box with a JT ER2, 12 grams, dust 10 round tubes of old paint. She was very sweet and said I could have the old dimpled paintballs if I needed more.
She got this to shoot at deer and turkey vultures that used to flock and congregate in a tree we since cut down. Our town is a suburb, but close to mountains so it's normal to see an abundance of wildlife. She told us a story of how someone called the cops on her and they showed up to her door asking if someone was shooting and she said "yes that was me" and the cop went on defense mode and undid his holster. Right then his partner comes around the corner yelling "did you see that giant bird?!"
Apparently you can't shoo these things away using paintballs/anything that can hurt them because they are a protected species in Utah.
