I’m not complaining about being outgunned and I always play with a pump. I do however make fun of guys with $3000 worth of gear that don’t seem to do any better on the field than half the rental walk-ons, especially if they brag or talk down other people’s crap guns. I also make fun of the guys with Vettes at track days that get blue flagged to let a Spec Neon go by, same thing.

I actually think we’re living in pretty good times when 10.5 is the nearly universal tourney cap and a lot of fields use that for walk on. It has/could be worse.
And I’m all for pump/magfed/mech/stock games. I think those types of organized games are some of the most fun. You just can’t expect to play walk-on with whatever your favorite technical handicap is and not get outgunned a bit.Formerly chodeyg, forgive me for growing sick of the username.

I play at Hell Survivors. These BPS limits you guys refer to...I never saw such a thing in person before. And as I said, I always play pump and I always have a good time so yeah, I don’t think that’s the solution any more than I think other players’ crazy high rate of fire is something I have to worry about. They’re the ones going broke not hitting anything.

there is a local field "famous" for dumb kids with $$$ space dildos ... Everytime they start to talk shit about me and my "antique/vintage" gun, the refs start laughing ...
It's always a blast popping a kid with a space dildo who think it doesn't count because he got hit with a pump 🤣
The debate of banning new stuff could be applied to FSR today ... Lots of people complaining about them ...Love my brass ... Love my SSR ... Hard choices ...

Ah, another good old-fashioned MCB ROF circle jerk!! Guess it was about time we had one on the new site.

Calling this discussion a circle jerk is one of the most negative responses in this thread, ya know. I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around why you even felt the need.

It does sort of feel that way. A lot of dismissive attitudes toward anyone who likes to play with modern equipment. Why can't people just play with the equipment they like? I personally love all my electrics since I left the game before they came out and it's all new to me. I also started off playing pump in '93 but even then I was outgunned when going head to head with a semi. Didn't mean it wasn't still fun but I currently prefer the ease of playing with a modern gun.

There is room for everything from single shot to pro tourney players here on MCB. But if you have pop into a thread about a pump day ad from 1993 I think ya oughta know what to expect
I’m sorry if you feel ostracized by the pump guys

Fair point, I popped in because I was fascinated that even back in '93 ROF was already an issue. That's when I first played and started like most then with a sweet PMI Trracer - was 14 so all I could afford. Rentals at fields were still all pumps then too (at least here in GA) so it was genuinely surprising to see that they already had pump only days in some areas. Didn't know that semis were already that prevalent then.
Then somewhere things took a turn and it went from pump play is more fun to the guys shooting new electros are a-holes who don't know how to play paintball and are getting smoked by the pump players. That was the part I was referencing. Maybe the field I play at is just more relaxed since it's all rec play but I've never seen attitudes from people shooting high end electros. They're all pretty helpful and I even see them loaning guns to rental guys sometimes which is really great.
Having said all that, I'm considering picking up a pump again as it's been 25 years since I've played with one. Might be interesting to change it up here and there. As it is, I find myself primarily seeking out the other guys on the field who have their own equipment as it's better playing head to head with them vs. bombarding a birthday rental party. Plus I'm interested in seeing how modern pumps feel.

I get where it could feel that way.
Personally, I have issue with a-hole in general. There is a few fields I avoid because of the ambience they cultivate. I have lots of fun with electro player (using one is not my style, every one their own ...).
